Chuck Todd: Populists like McCaskill Sent Daschle Down the Tubes! |
Chuck Todd is currently speculating that populists like Senators McCaskill and Tester sent Daschle down the tubes because they supported Obama's mantra of change and could not tolerate Daschle's tax missteps. He also points out that many lawmakers who publicly supported Daschle were actually seething inside about Daschle's tax evasion.

1. Is he talking as though that's a bad thing? |
I think it's what the people voted for, myself.

2. Exactly, Chuck is trying to point out the obvious. McCaskill and tester are our new kind |
of untainted Senators that do not play the game that Daschle and others played in the past.

3. Excellent, if true. As far as the stimulus package is concerned, Clair McCaskill is the |
only legislator I'm looking to for cues. I think she has both Obama's ear and her own ear is close to the grassroots.

10. Claire was on Morning Joe objecting to some of the items in the stimulus |
and saying it should just have stimulus, not regular spending, in it. So if she's a weathervane on this, I think we're gonna end up with lots of money going to poorer people who tend to spend their available income immediately. I don't know where that leaves the other stuff the governors want, except as they relate to the poor.
That, and of course tax cuts. The question will be: who will get the tax cuts. If the repubs try to screw the middle class out of tax cuts while handing them out to the rich so they'll invest and it will all "trickle down" the people of this country are gonna start throwing shoes...

11. Claire McCaskill is becoming a major force in the Senate. Do not be surprised |
to see her in a national ticket soon enough. That lady has guts and gives them Hell! She was Obama's biggest weapon, very savvy
