I had flipped to Olberman, and Dr. DemoTex called from her Chicago office screaming "CHECK OUT 60-MINUTES! NOW!." OMG. CBS has covered their ass and busted the little Bu$h. There is a god.

When that secretary from central casting said, "I never typed those memos. But I did type memos like them. I think some one deliberately altered enough them to protect themselves." No one can seriously question their "authenticity" from now on. That is one lady who don't scare easily.

They covered every angle today. The secretary boosted their general story, and they released documents with names of all their experts who AUTHENTICATED the memos.

11. Yeah, but...

The Freepers can say "It was only her opinion". I'm afraid the bigger story on CNN/FOX/MSNBC tomorrow is going to be that she said "she didn't write them" (although that isn't all that unusual) and she said "they used language inconsistent with the Air Guard."

Too much (and I'm paraphrasing) "The documents are fake, but he really was an asshole" from the secretary. Too much doubt about the authenticity of the documents and the media will, suspecting a ratf*ck, be (even more) sympathetic to Bush and opinions and recollections won't matter.

This whole story scares the bejeezus out of me. If 60-minutes had just gone with the story the Bush got preferential treatment and blew off orders, and had originally backed it up with only opinions and recollections of witnesses it would have been good. But they cited documents and now that there's even the slightest doubt about the documents they used, then that too easily becomes the story and obscures the underlying facts.

I just saw that flip-flopping toad Andrew Sullivan on Zahn/CNN gasping about how CBS and Rather owe Bush an apology for standing behind forged documents, hissing that "they haven't been able to come up with anyone saying that they're authentic!" (paraphrased, and false).

The nice old lady HELPED BUSH. Everything about this story HELPS BUSH. Her saying he was gentlemanly was worth more to Bush than a thousand missed physicals hurts him.

You are being played. At least have the sense to drop it rather than existing merely to provide amusement to republicans, which is about what this storyline has ground down to.
