Comparatively speaking, of course. :)

10. I had Voinovich and Dewine for awhile, so I empathize.
Voinovich is retiring, so we may actually get two Democratic Senators from Ohio. That would be so awesome!

16. you're welcome
I had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Brown a few times. My impression was that she was as her granddaughters lovingly described, the perfect combination of a Southern Lady and a fighter for social justice. She was extremely polite and seemed to hold a high regard for manners. She was very, very kind and thoughtful. She also displayed a passion when an issue was brought up that she felt strongly about. The passion was of course, displayed with a politeness.

I heard a story once that she teased our Senator and asked him why he didn't use his middle name (Campbell) in his political materials. Campbell, of course is her maiden name. If I recall the story correctly, I think he replied that famous people that use their middle names are most often famous for being criminals... The story was much better told by Joyce Beatty last year when she introduced Sherrod at an Ohio Dem meeting.

17. Thank you for that article, OhioBlue..
It said she campaigned for Obama and she's only been sick about a month and a half.

"Emily Brown was perhaps best known for being the mother of U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, who attended both sets of calling hours. Afterward, he flew back to Washington, on a plane arranged by the White House, to vote on final passage of the $789 billion economic stimulus package. His vote was expected to be essential to obtain the 60 votes needed to stop further debate of the legislation."

18. Yep! She did campaign for Obama - she even came to a house party I hosted
She also housed the Regional Field Organizer and a local Field Organizer for Obama in Richland County for a while.

I held a "house party" type of event in a neighboring county. I worked it out with the Regional FO before we got our local FO. I asked her if Emily would come - and she asked Mrs. Brown and she agreed. She was so kind and polite.

I made cucumber sandwiches and iced tea... I was hoping it would impress Mrs. Brown. She made sure to compliment me on both. She hugged me when she arrived and when she left. I don't think I know a person who could match her in manners, etiquette and thoughtfulness.

She told stories with southern charm and passion. Her entire face also lit up when you asked her about her children or grandchildren.
