should make it clear that we are either at the start of the predictions in Revelations...or global warming is going to do us in. Guess it depends on your take.

Karl Rove I am sure is drooling over how to use this for votes but I wouldn't lower myself.

I think they could help. It gets the race off of the front burner to some extent. And if the race is not the primary focus, people aren't consuming as much of the mainstream media spin.. leaving folks time to actually think for themselves.

but with all the coverage between hurricanes and the bombings in Iraq everyday, there isn't much tv space for Rove's negative ads.

My parents in New Orleans drove 13 hours overnight to flee to Lafayette. I'm glad they did, even though it turned. And my partner's dad is currently riding-out the storm in Mobile. We're a bit worried..

in Atlanta for tomorrow. I'm in NC so we will probably just get rain and flashfloods. Hopefully the damage will not be as great as everyone is fearing.

You are on a board of political nature. It is not unreasonable to expect that everything and anything will at some point be viewed through a political lens. In fact, it could be argued that it would be unrealistic to expect no such discussion.
No one on this thread is suggesting that we "use" the hurricane for anything. A legit question was asked about how a tragedy might affect the landscape; this has happened with all other tragedies - Pearl Harbor, 9/11, assassinations, the poverty epidemic, diseases, etc. If you're not comfortable with the subject matter, take note that no one is forcing you to read it.

14. I've got news for you |
|
The victims dont care about Bush showing up. Why do you ask? Are you gonna do anything to help out?
Or is the political hay more important to you?

13. It's not how we're using it for political gain |
|
It's how Bush may use it for political gain.
And they've already tried, haven't they. Nader should be on the ballot because of Ivan.
That makes as much sense as connecting Sadaam to 9/11. But there you have it.

People said that Hurricane Andrew contributed to Bush's loss in 92. It is still brought up.

Andrew hit in August. When was the election that Clinton benefitted from? people are getting slammed right now, as we fucking speak.
is it too much to ask to wait until the storm is over, maybe show a little respect that way?
or are we vultures?

6. Honestly, Ivan almost hurt us, Nader-wise |
|
Seems they tried to use Ivan as an excuse to leave Nader on the already-printed ballots. Thanks be, that was shot down.
I think, at least in our area, there is a lot of disgruntled attitude toward Jebbie-boy and his lack of aide when needed the most. Who knows though? Reds don't talk to me anymore...lol
