Where Do Commander's Secret Files Go???

If Killian dropped dead while serving in the Guard, I imagine his files would have been cleaned out by staff. If so, where would private files go?? Would they be thrown in with all the other files? I don't think he dropped dead while serving. So, as he left, I would assume he would take them with him or would he make it a part of permanent files?? If he took it with him, would there be any need to keep the damn things and not just throw them on the BBQ and destroy??? Do the Guard files in general end up in a DC storage place or are they kept within the state or the unit going back a zillion years? Aren't the answers to the above questions the whole heart of this dung flinging mess???

1. Official files would be microfilmed and then stored.

His "CYA file" would have gone with him if he left the service, or have been destroyed by his secretary if he dropped dead at his desk, unless he'd left instructions on who to deliver it to.

Remember, that CYA file was kept in a locked desk drawer, out of the regular files, per Mrs. Knox.

My guess is that he took the CYA stuff with him, and that it passed to a colleague on or some time after his death.
