Gibbs' response to a reporter's question about Steele apologizing to Rush for his comments:
Edited on Tue Mar-03-09 03:36 PM by jenmito
"I was a little surprised to see how quickly the head of the RNC apologized to the head of the Republican party."

GREAT answer! Right at the end-he smiled, some in the room laughed, and that was the end of the briefing.

4. Yes he does. And it's a good thing, because he's not the best spokesman...
but when he gets a good shot in, it's VERY good.

7. I *love* that Gibbs & Rahm are beating the Repubs over the head with Rush.
It's great. I hope they continue to show how emasculated they are by El Pigboy.

15. Exactly- all Obama did was trick them into bringing it out into the open.
It's not like he forced them all to grovel, apologize, and call Rush their "leader, etc.

Rush and the RNC just got KOed- but it was all done with honest, clean, above the belt strokes.

13. Obama, Rahm, Gibbs- kicking Rush & the RNC in the balls.
I'm impressed for several reasons:

1- Someone FINALLY engaged in confrontation with the true leader of the GOP. It's about time his credibility was held up to serious question.

2- No one had to lie or be underhanded to force the truth to come out. Guilt by association is an ethical tactic here, especially when the target ADMITS the association.

3-It needed to be done- this isnt just "red meat" for DEMS like me- but good strategy. A lot of moderates were unaware of just how powerful and dangerous the RW echo chamber is. This is move to expose and remove an obstruction to progress. The true voice of GOP needs a face, and Rush was perfect.

20. Exactly! And, who all was that said
it was a mistake for "Obama to take on rush limpbaugh" about a month ago?

I know Bill Press said it for one.

There were a lot of us here who were thrilled this was busted open.

22. Rush can be knocked over with a feather. I agree with you...
The mistake was the 20 year long strategy of pretending he would go away.

19. I've been offline for
a couple a days with and missed this but I did catch Letterman last night talking to Katie Couric when he was exposing rush for the idiot he is and Katie was laughingly saying.."there goes my interview with rush".

You gotta love Letterman for the position he's in and trying to help our country from hatemongers like rush limpbaughs.

I fully expected rush to take retaliation on Dave.

21. Glad you're feeling well enough to post again
I would love to see a battle between Dave and Rush. David is not afraid to go back and forth with Rush. Dave's probably not concerned about his ratings because they don't share the same demo group.

23. You're so sweet..thank you.
Yeah, I couldn't believe what I was hearing..I hadn't heard any news lately..just watching DVDs and then I flip on Letterman and there he is with Katie and they're talking all positive about Obama and the mess he's inherited. Then Dave comes out with "Did anyone see rush limpbaugh the other day at a conservative meeting" "He looked like Russian Mobster with his shirt open showing flesh..like anyone wants to see more limpbaugh flesh"!!

25. The Video is Up on Politico's Home Page in Case Anyone Wants to Wander Over
I'm not going to link to that site.

He smirked while the reporter asked the question and I couldn't catch what someone else said before Gibbs started his answer.

I'm now adding Gibbs to my list of Obama Administration crushes and it's getting to be a long list...

:smoke:
