Rove On Testimony: Democrats "Would Love To Have Me Barbecued"
In an interview with Fox News, former White House adviser Karl Rove said he expected to be devoured by Democrats when he testifies before the House Judiciary Committee.

Speaking of former Bush aides Harriet Miers and Josh Bolten, Rove said,"I understand they may be the hors d'oeuvres, but I'm the main course. Some Democrats would love to have me barbecued." Rove and Miers have both agreed to testify.

That said, Rove claims to be looking forward to the hearing, which will focus on his role in the firing of federal prosecutors and the allegedly political prosecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman. Rove has avoided and ignored subpoenas in the past by claiming executive privilege.

Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-MI) issued the following statement when the agreement was reached:

"I have long said that I would see this matter through to the end and am encouraged that we have finally broken through the Bush Administration's claims of absolute immunity. This is a victory for the separation of powers and congressional oversight. It is also a vindication of the search for truth. I am determined to have it known whether U.S. Attorneys in the Department of Justice were fired for political reasons, and if so, by whom."

2. Barbecued, hell
I want him sliced, diced and fricasseed. And then burnt to a crisp as unfit for consumption.

3. If it's a victory for our side, then why isn't Rove testifying under oath?
And how come we'll never get to see the testimony? We're promised a transcript, but without the ability to watch it for ourselves, we're still sorta in the dark, here.

20. depositions are under oath
remember, Clinton's alleged perjury was during his deposition testimony.

I'm not happy about the deal, I think he and the others should have to testify in public, before the committee.

However, please realize that depositions are under oath, that court reporters transcribe the questions and answers and discussions on the record.

10. I think he has the wrong perspective.
Its not about Rove, or Bush, or Cheney, its about accountability and moving forward with justice. I think alot of democrats have feelings of love and mercy for even people like Rove. (notice I said 'even people like Rove', showing one of my own flaws.)

But anyway, if Rove is Barbecued like he said, it will be because of what he did, not because of those that hold him to account for it.

11. When barbecuing, you want to select meet that is NOT excessively fat...
as the dripping fat causes the coals to burst into flame and char the meat in a manner which makes it less palatable.

Be sure to serve salad and baked potato for those who pass on Charred Rush.

13. Too tough.
I don't tolerate lard very well - it gives me a tremendous amount of heartburn.

I'd pass on a Rove dish. Hell, I wouldn't even take a plate to be polite.

19. There He Goes With His Karl Rove Fucking Spin Again.
We said we want him to eternally burn in fucking hell. So typical of Rove to twist that into saying we want him barbecued.
