Anyone know what the inflation-adjusted S&P level is these days? |

Every day they say, this is the lowest since 1996 or 1995 or whatever.
But those comparisons are not adjusted for inflation. S&P 700 in 1996 was a lot more money than it is today.
So the stock market is actually a lot lower than 1996 levels. I just don't know how much.
1996 to 2009... 13 years at at least 2% compounded. That has to be at least 30-35% right? And intervening inflation averaged more than 2%.
Is the current market really 40% below 1996?
