Yes, because the president decided to have a press conference next Tuesday at 8 p.m. — "Idol" time on the East Coast — Fox has decided to bump next week's round to Wednesday and Thursday instead of the usual Tuesday performances and Wednesday elimination show, host Ryan Seacreast announced at the end of Wednesday night's broadcast.

Before marveling in the superhuman powers afforded to the prez who can make "Idol" move their schedule, Fox did the same rescheduling for a prime-time press conference by President Bush in 2004. The "Idol" season finale that year drew 65,000,000 votes; the presidential election in '04 got 121,000,000.
