Breaking: New Washington Post/Abc poll-Obama approval rating at 66%-highest in 20 years

Positive reviews of Obama's work in office, particularly on the economy, inform these gains. Sixty-four percent express at least some confidence that his economic plan will help -- down from 72 percent in January but still a substantial level of support. Sixty percent approve of his handling of the economy, an accomplishment, given its dire condition. And his overall job approval rating, at 66 percent, is essentially steady from a month ago and the best in 20 years for a president at this stage in office.

Three points:
1. The democrats have a president on our side who is as popular as Ronald Reagan was at this point in his presidency. This is huge for our ideals and could help us to bury Reaganism in a way 42 could not.
2. Despite the hate, the american public stands by their president.
3. There's some pretty good news for Barack Obama in our latest ABC/Post poll out this morning ? a 66 percent job approval rating and advances in views of the nation's direction. But he might not brag on it at the dinner table: There are even better results for his wife. Seventy-six percent of Americans now report an overall favorable opinion of Michelle Obama, a new high for her and toward the high end historically: Gallup had Laura Bush topping out at 80 percent in February 2005 and Barbara Bush at 85 percent in August 1992. Both by then had far longer in the spotlight than Michelle Obama to date.

That final point was from an e-mail that the network sent out.

ENJOY THIS MOMENT FOLKS. We are living through a moment of historic ascendancy for the democrats/progressives that is unrivalled since at least JFK but more likely FDR.

No way it would be that high if they did.

:P

ETA: That really is great news. Thanks so much for posting it. The perfect note to head to sleep on!

8. It really is great news! and LOL cleo
Yes, 66% from a gold standard poll is just wild. My goal for the Obama presidency is for him to leave office heralded as one of the all-time greats and for the conservative movement to have been crushed by him the way Reagan crushed liberalism. Anything less would be a disappointment. Tough standard I know. lol.

LOL cleo. Glad the manager sent the girl home. She probably needs the time. I hear ya about the gallup poll. I felt the same way yesterday but Rasmussen went up 2 points so I didn't panic :) Little did I know that this one was coming.

3. lol, tonight at work we were joking.....
... about a young girl who works there who was upset about some teenaged love angst and crying because her boyfriend had broken up with her. The manager was so annoyed by the whole thing that she sent her home early.

When I learned of this, (and needless to say my adoration for the man is known through the land lol) I started play crying saying, "WAAAAHHH!!! OBAMA WAS DOWN TWO POINTS ON THE GALLUP POLL YESTERDAY AND I'M SAD!!!! Can I go home too?"

He's actually doing better after the Afghanistan annoucement than I thought he would be. Tomorrow will be an interesting day for us poll junkies.

12. Don't forget the hordes of Swedes, Germans, British, French,
Kenyans, Indians and... and... ah, you know, the WHOLE WORLD, practically.

The collective consciousness of humankind wants Obama to succeed.

Now, that should count for something... :patriot:

Cause for celebration, and a fine "kiss my ass" to the MSM, and their daily round up of hatchet men.

(Guess they didn't poll the handful of Democratic Undergrounders attacking our Democratic President.)

I read it in "Purism for Dummies' by Ralph Nader.

He seemed like a political genius who could teach Obama quite a bit about connecting with the public.

25. Well the 5% of Dems who disapprove of Obama must be bitterly disappointed
After all the corporate sell out has a big approval rating from the rest of the Dems polled.

30. People like Obama. They know the Bush administration trashed the
mechanism of government. They blame Bush and his administration for said trashing. They acknowledge the scope and depth of the mess. They know it's a big mess and will take a long time to address. They're rooting for the new guy to help clean it up.

So am I.
