I Voted and Respect Obama BUT!!!!!!! |
|
Edited on Tue Mar-31-09 08:56 AM by rsmith6621
Its is beginning to appear he is a SHOWER BEFORE WORK bias president then a SHOWER AFTER WORK one...
......I thought that Obama supported labor more than management....why does WALL ST get all the wiggle room in the world and secret deals done behind closed doors STILL....Why doesn't OBAMA tell the BANKS they have 30 days to open credit lines up or they get no more funding and the funds the feds are holding will not be distributed...
I certainly don't remember OBAMA pressuring BANK EXECUTIVES out of their positions...
We lose the Auto industry the USA will be set back longer then 2 OBAMA terms before we see recovery.....these new alternative cars are to expensive and those manufacturing bases are at least two to four years before they are up and running...
We need to do everything to save Detroit.....UNIONS deserve OBAMAS ATTENTION.
Ill grab my   and watch the butter fly.

2. I'm hoping and praying the he actually has a plan for the workers. I'm praying that his reasons |
|
for doing what he did are larger than we know or understand, and that he has a major plan for the unions.

9. Obama believes his plan offers a chance for survival of the auto industry |
|
He is trying to save Detroit. He told auto makers early in his campaign he would be coming back and he was going to be tough. It remains to be seen if he is right or wrong in how he is going about it. You're talking about an industry that has been in the process of restructuring for decades and received billions of taxpayer money along the way with almost nothing to show for it. If Americans were buying American-made cars, GM wouldn't have lost $80 billion over the past few years, but GM decided to continue making inefficient cars even if nobody wanted them anymore. He is saying, before they receive more taxpayer billions, they have to show they will do what it takes. That's his responsibility. If not, bankruptcy offers the only next step - it is a shot at survival, not an attempt at destruction, as you present it. Obama has a great labor guy, Ron Bloom, working on restructuring from the union viewpoint, so the idea that he is all of a sudden anti-union is wrong. Banks also had changes at the top, before Obama came to office, and I read that he is considering changes at Citi and Bank of America, though I don't know how firm these reports are. I have no use for banker shitbags, either, but presenting Obama as anti-union is simple knee-jerkery.

11. Even if he were a real progressive... |
|
...he wouldn't have the political clout to undo all these problems, which were centuries in the making. Presidents aren't supposed to be able to do so.
What he is is a charismatic and intelligent leader who built a coalition larger than almost anyone else could have. When enough Americans agree with the agenda you outline, and take to the streets in support of it, we'll have our change. Obama can only point the way and hope enough of us will follow--and even begin to lead beyond where he can take us.
We don't want a dictator, but I am afraid that even a perfect president may not be able to save us.
