8. Some numbers from Jim Dean, a lot but not nearly enough. We must not care enough.

From Jim's email today:

"Last Thursday, my brother Gov. Howard Dean challenged us to gather 10,000 supporters for the campaign by Friday night and we did it! Then on Saturday, DFA members did it again. On Sunday? Another 10,000 signers. On Monday, our friends at TrueMajority joined the cause bringing 20,000 more supporters onboard in one day.

Great news, but we aren't even close to done.

This is the biggest issue campaign DFA has ever undertaken. Our goal: Get 250,000 petition signatures and deliver them personally to every member of Congress before Obama's healthcare legislation gets out of committee. Delivering the petition is only the beginning of this aggressive campaign which will include neighborhood canvasses, congressional meetings, calls, rallies, and targeted ads to move the message in the media.

We need all hands on deck to win."

Not nearly close enough to matter to the big guys. Kind of discouraging.

My hope that an online petition will be able to resist the power of a multi trillion dollar insurance and pharmaceutical industry is low.

They only had 50,000 signatures over the first 4 days or so. That's pretty disappointing to be honest.
