15. My In-Laws still live in New Orleans from three generations back. My MIL tells me that

during the Jim Crow days that they would use what's termed "The Brown Paper Bag Test." That is, if your skin was darker than the shade of brown grocery bag, you were classified as Colored (Black).

Therefore, I would suggest that since bad habits die hard, those who are still inclined to foment racism probably use the same standard as outlined above to label people as "Black."

The only threads that generate any activity there now are American Idol and Obama-hate ones. And even the one in question has only pulled 50 something responses.

You used to see multiple threads dealing with numerous "serious" issues gaining over 100 posts within minutes up until recently.

Now, a thread is doing well if it pulls over 40 responses.

Someone on an earlier thread on DU said that FR recently banned anyone who didn't buy into the "birther" crap. If that's the case then FR apparently had more people who had some lick of common sense than I initially thought possible.
