4. I like it!
Good points! Obama simply rocks! It's great that he is so charming, and really I can't wait to see what he can accomplish next! I feel this really is just the beginning! That he'll be accomplishing a lot up until his last day in office. There is much work to be done!

13. The same lion's den that had France and China at odds with each other and President Obama brokering
a compromise between all parties.

Then, France, Germany, Russia, and China, all came out with statements of enthusiasm for President Obama and looking forward to more meetings with him.

Yeah, he was sure eaten alive at the G20 summit meeting. :D

8. Exactly, Frenchie. How many times can we keep undererstimating and 2nd guessing this man?
This is precisely the reason we should have a degree of trust about how he handling the economy. Let's see how his plan works out. And if he ends up with egg on his face, he'll admit it, and try something else.

16. They have nothing in common.
Edited on Fri Apr-03-09 10:22 AM by TayTay
The first few articles from 2008 seem to reflect a media obsessed with minutiae from a campaign that was already settled.

The second is about President Obama on the world stage confronting the challenges coming from other international leaders. There are differences of opinion as to what should or should not happen to kick start the global economy. The President has one set of ideas on what to do and is acting persuasively to get world opinion to turn his way. That is an ongoing process and Mr. Obama appears to be doing quite well right now in getting world leaders to acquiesce to some of his goals.

What do you see?

17. What anyone can see is the press setting Obama up for a big fat failure
when the big fat failure turns out to be their own powers of prognostication.

18. This makes no sense at all
The accounts coming out about the G-20 Summit and President Obama's helping to forge a consensus are a pretty good win and a very, very decent foundation for this Administration in their dealings with Europe going forward. French and German leaders were initially opposed to bigger stimulus plans and wanted a much stronger and quicker application of regulations that would be binding on world financial institutions. The President, by all press accounts, was key to helping mediate a solution to that.

That is how the press accounts read. I am at a loss to find where reporting someone's hard-won success is a set-up for failure. That makes no sense. If you take this logic further then the President should never attempt anything because it will only engender criticism.

President Obama is going to have successes and failures, like everyone else. I think he is well positioned to have much more success than failure. We can look to the very qualities that made him so welcome on the world stage for why this will be. He is an intelligent, reasoned, diplomatic man who is truly willing to negotiate with others. This man doesn't need to dominate others when he can use his persuasive gifts to get others to willingly come over.
