So ...Guess who I saw at the Braves National Games tonight... |

As we are walking into the stadium my spouse grabs my arm and say Is that Chuck Todd? Sure enough he's outside the stadium clearly wating on someone. Not sure what posessed me, but I just went over to him and extended a hand, nodded and walked on. It was wierd because I see him so much on TV its like I know him. I decided immediately not to linger and chat, just wanted to acknowdge that I recognized him and appeciated him, but also understod this was his private time and he is entiteled to be left alone. Fair enough,
SO we get to our seats and ask my Brother-in-law if he saw Chuckie T on the way in as well.He was royally hacked that I got to shake his hand,,, but honestly Ireally did not think it was a big deal.
A couple of minutes later lo and behold here comes Chuck down our aisle with his friend....Mr. Robert Gibbs, We both just sort of sat there slackjawed for a minute. He's like "we gotta go shake their hands." But I am like no way man CHuck is going to think I am stalking him. The last thing they wanted (I rationalized) is someone asking for auographs and draring attention to the fact that they are there.... together,
Nothing else really happened, but the one question I was dying to ask them was whom invited who to the game.

5. Reninds of what Ralph Nader said last year. |

He get a perfunctory meeting with the Washington Post Editorial Board/ At the ends of the Q&A Nader launces into a harangue: Why aren't you guys covering me. Someone chimes in with "we only cover those with a chance to win". Nader respsonds with "Then why the hell are you guys covering the Nationals?"
One of the best political comeback lines of all time.

3. Very Interesting that the two of them hang out. |

Chucky gives Gibbs alot of crap during the briefings.
Will be interesting to see if that all changes.

7. Chuckie T should not be "hanging out" with Robert Gibbs at a baseball game! |
|
Edited on Tue Apr-21-09 12:45 AM by gauguin57
Jesus. Journalists just have no ethics anymore. They're not supposed to be "hanging out" with their sources. If he wanted to talk to Gibbs on background, or whatever, there are plenty of more appropriate places in which to do that.
I like Chuckie T. I like Robert Gibbs. But this is unseemly. This kind of chuminess is just how stuff gets missed ... Iraq war, anyone?

and that this was not an interview or on background. I am srue threre is always that dynamic tension of someone playing someone...of know bringing "office" stuff with them when they are offline. They migh just genuinely get alolg well together. I can certainly see that
Afterall CJ Cregg and Danny Kinkannen were "kjst friends"
