A Glimpse of the Dark Side:

Dick Cheney apparently kept a file in his office marked "Detainees" (.pdf).

(update by TPM)

The document in question, obtained by Greg Sargent, is Cheney's request to the National Archives to declassify and release certain documents that he says "proves" that U.S. torture produced actionable intelligence.

In particular he requests two CIA reports: a 12-page report dated July 13, 2004, and a 19-page report dated June 1, 2005.

But note especially that Cheney's request identifies a specific folder marked "Detainees" kept in "OVP Cheney Immediate Office Files."

4. It's an honorific.
Unfortunately, the office he soiled commands esteem and respect, even if Cheney himself deserves none.

Unlike the terms "General" and "Governor," which are lifetime titles, the titles of "Senator," "President" and "Vice President" are surrendered once the office is vacated. Instead, those individuals get the tag "The Honorable" So-and-so.

The media routinely ignores this convention and sometimes insists on calling former Presidents "President," even though George Washington pointed out that there can be only one at a time. But Emily Post is still a ranking authority on the subject, and she still says "The Honorable" is the proper form of address.

5. Dick, its not going to work. Everyone knows you are an evil sob.
Tell me has there ever been a former VP who just would not go away/shut his mouth like this? Al Gore did not speak out until more then a year after the Iraq war.
