Today's story was, we have a President and a First Lady who are |
|
so normal.
Watching the love fest on Larry King about Michelle Obama, reading about 'date night' where they walked around holding hands, (who wouldn't?), it's nice. Normal. And not living in a bubble, which is a plus.

1. Isn't that sad they had to walk around in their own back yard? |
|
I realize it's a rather large back yard, and occasionally, their private helicopter lands in that back yard and swoops them away to some exotic locale, but still .... poor folks cant even walk down the street.

3. The Gores used to slide out in town every so often. |
|
They'd be in sweats, very casual, very inconspicuous, with a few secret service, similarly dressed, nearby but not on top of them.
The Obamas could do it if they dressed down. Better in winter, I think, more clothes to bundle up in--BO would need to wear a big hat or ski headband to hide those ears.
I once saw "Bar" Bush taking a walk by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial with a very small entourage. Same deal--no one bothered her, she was dressed down, very low key. She actually looked better in person than she did on TV.

4. Now, even the Obamas 'sliding out' can't or don't. Tonight was good. |
|
Or last night. Nice dinner, walk around their park alone, sounds so good to me.

5. Yeah but there's a big difference in the Gore's or Bar Bar .... |
|
... walking around Chocolate City and the OBAMAS walking around in Chocolate City.
Fortunately or unfortunately, they're so popular, I cant imagine them walking down the street without getting mobbed.
But Babylon's original point is true, the SENTIMENT is very sweet.

7. In winter, depending on where they went, they could get away with it. |
|
A coat with a hood, a knit hat and scarf...everyone looks like everyone else. The Gores were pretty popular too--I saw them, and pretended I didn't. I am pretty sure they knew I recognized them, and I also think they knew I wasn't going to gush and googoo or bother them in any way. I'm just not that type.
Plus, you mix it up--the Secret Service makes up a group of six or eight, and they're just "in the crowd."
It can be done. Gotta pick the right outing and the right venue. Clinton used to go jogging before he gave it up and went to the french fries instead. It takes planning. Even the Bushes ate out in town every so often.

6. Not since the early sixties... |
|
Nice family with two younger kids in the whitehouse.
I can't help but think that they REALLY want to leave the world a better place for those two girls.
Recommended. :toast:
