Given the administration's actions regarding the economy and the basic "structure" and
institutions of our society, is it realistic to readjust the goals for "progress" along liberal lines?

Should liberals be content to make gains on peripheral issues like reproductive choice, energy and the environment, and other social issues and leave the overall organizational structure of America as it is - in the hands and under the control of corporations?

The more I see of what Obama has been trying to do leads me to this conclusion. He has shown he does not want a progressive utopia established in the US - so trying to push him in that direction seems fruitless and maybe even counter-productive (that keep-your-powder-dry thing).

Why not concentrate on issues that are subject to change?
