6. The Jesuit is open to all discussion
Making statements regarding honoring diversity of opinion, take a look at all aspects of a person not single issues. The aptly described twit is all abortion all the time. The classic line came from the esteemed Jesuit, who said even Jesus spoke with those who did not agree with them. Mr Twit then made a comment about Herod, comparing, albeit indirectly, Obama to Herod. The Jesuit Priest immediately and politely called the twit on his comparison and the Twit denied he tried to compare the two.

8. Is it Father James Martin?

He's an editor at America magazine, and the author of the superb "My Life With the Saints", among several other books.

9. Yup. A very impressive human being.
My education would not have been at all complete without the tutelage of the Jebbies ... they MADE me (actually) think! (OMG!) (It hurt so baad.) But I've never been able to stop ... it's an addiction.

13. The teaching orders are fantastic
I went to a high school operated by the Marists, and they were great.

17. I was taught BY the Jebbies and taught WITH the Salesians.
As a (titular) Lutheran, it was a "learning experience" all the way. For years I'd take weekend time to "meditate" on the grounds of a Franciscan monastery for a few hours on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. I'd occasionally encounter one or another of the monks who, seeing that I was engaged in contemplation, would respect my 'process' yet offer their company for whatever conversation might arise. Fascinating times. They understood "meditation" as a kind of solo 'retreat.' I've been fortunate in my life to find some excellent guidance as I travel my own strange spiritual path.

12. It's excellent and thoroughly readable
Apparently, the word-of-mouth on it is good, too; I recc'd it to a pastoral staffer in our parish, and she had already read it!

11. I believe that was him.
I didn't know he was a Jesuit, but I could have guessed it. I went to a Jesuit university as an undergrad. The ironic thing is that it was their teaching me to think for myself that sent me running away, screaming, from not only the Catholic church, but religion, in general. I was also "anti-choice" until then, which is doubly ironic, considering I don't really like kids. (No, my dislike for kids isn't what changed my mind, if that's what you're thinking. :-)).

5. versus the EWT Douchebag?
I agree, he sounds like the old fashioned priests mom and dad would have over for sunday dinner when I was growing up, conversing upon the subjects of the day with a calm reasonableness and wisdom.
I haven't attended church in years,(I'm the guy befuddled and perplexed at all the hand-holding business at funeral and wedding masses) so I can't say when the secular RW hijacked the already conservative institution.

to call this smirking Eternal Word Television punk Raymond Arroyo a "douchebag" is to grossly slur feminine hygiene products everywhere.
