To get on CNN in '09: Be Alone, but carry an Anti-Obama sign; while in '03, Millions not Shown!
Edited on Sun May-17-09 03:31 PM by FrenchieCat
I am so fucking tired of CNN's reporting on the very few rather than on the many, and rather than on the great speech President Obama just gave, until I am seething! My husbands laughed at my being pissed, and simply countered, "this is what CNN does!" That just pissed me off some more, and I asked......"but where were they, when I was Marching against IRAQ? I had to catch that footage of protests as reported on C-Span."

In other words, CNN Sucks BIG TIME, and will not in anyway ever be a catalyst in bettering or uniting this country in any way, shape or form. I give up on them utterly, and the only way that they are better than those hate groups, is that CNN at least pretends to be fair, when they are anything but. I now Pray that there is something that President Obama finds in the way of the FCC to force channels calling themselves CNN a better representation of the truth, as opposed to what they do now, which is to make it up.

As for President Obama's speech, this was one of his best. Of course, one has to arrive at that conclusion on one's own, because CNN certainly ain't gonna ever conclude or concur on that kind of a reality, only in the attempt to make news via their made-up bullshit.

It leaves me wanting to get a sign protesting their sorry asses and see if that gets me some coverage from them. In fact, we should all do that.

4. boomers???
as in baby boomers?

as in MY generation?

Bush was no more a "boomer" creation than Bill Clinton... or Hillary Clinton.

Sort of like Obama and Palin belonging to the in-between (not boomer, not quite Gen-x).

Which of those two is a creation of the 45 year olds?

23. I'm sorry but W was the archetypal boomer
-Not really bright.
-Lived off of his fathers name.
-Black and White absolute thinking.
-Spends the wealth of not only the previous, but of generations to come.
-A well overvalued sense of self.

24. I think you should have quit when you were behind....

"archetypal boomer"

-not really bright, sort of like how Paul Krugman, another boomer, isn't very bright...

-lived off of his father's name... again, like Keith Olberman (granted, tail end of the boomers) has made a living off of his family name.

and so on.

All of the attributes you ascribed to members of my generation are not "typical" for members of that generation or unique (or even common) to that generation. When you make such sweeping statements, you show yourself for what you are...

ignorant, prejudiced, insulting, boorish.

6. i continue to be baffled at the ( I assume) younger DUers
who buy into the right wing propaganda that "boomers" are to blame for all our troubles and that we're all sellouts to our former idealism etc.

You are, to put it politely, ill informed.

14. I love Boomers. Unfortunately my parents are Boomer conservatives.
Edited on Sun May-17-09 04:07 PM by Jennicut
I think the Boomers are split down the middle. Gen X is not much different. Only Gen Y really seems to be extremely liberal and that is the impact of growing up with Bush.
As a 33 year old I have many, many friends who are much older then me. And younger as well. I think its good to befriend all different types of people from every walk of life (age, race, gender).

3. FrenchieCat, I marched against war in 2003 with hundreds of thousands, and we were on page A7.
We were absolutely right, and Judith Miller's reporting, and the Washington Post editorial page, trumped our voices.

I will go to my grave regretting I did not do more, but at least I stood up. As I did against the Vietnam War.

I truly believe Iraq was (is) worse.

5. It was a damn shame, how the media marched us off to war
as though it was a video game.

I remember not being able to watch as they advertised the great "shock and awe"! I was simply dejected....just like I had been watching Election 2000 debacle as the media cheered on the coup on our democracy.

Also, sadly, I notice that CNN use the Black Anchors on the week-end to their end; to spew their propaganda. Hope those being used are proud of themselves, because they will be the only ones.

17. I've noticed that too
Ms. Whitfield, Mr. Holmes and Mr. Lemon are often handed the most disgraceful propaganda to read. I do also notice that from time to time they do try and speak against the spin they are directed to "report".

9. Amen Frenchie.
I have had the privilege of watching this online. No filter.

I was in DC as oft as I could get there. We got nothing.

I could talk about what everyone else has stated more eloquently than I could, regarding the media-- the profits, the rating and that they are not liberal.

What I will say is that I do not want a left OR right media. I want a FAIR media. I want to be able to make my own decision.

I did not watch CNN, I watched online, but I can say that I understand what you are saying. The worst thing that ever happened to news is when it became 'for profit' . News should not be for profit, period.

I watch CNN and MSNBC with a wary eye. They feed the news, I research it afterwards.

I like truth. I like knowing what is real and what is not.

As far as the protests, Frenchie, come on down. I have an Art studio where we can all make signs. We can hop on MARTA and do it!

11. Yep. I'm starting to think if the Teabaggers can protest and get this kind of coverage,
perhaps this is how we should deal with the media....although we know they won't report it.

13. We tried that.
I was there in DC in 2005 -- The media would NOT pay attention to us.
That said -- I don't see the media ignoring a protest at CNN -- one that is big enough -- (and that is a key point --numbers)

It might sound strange -- but if we were willing to do this, I bet Faux would LOVE to cover something like that. That would put CNN into quite a corner.

10. It truly is sad
Because it seems that most people are swayed by visual media. It him home for me while watching Obama address the troops a couple of months ago. I was at the in laws who watch FAUX almost exclusively. (I think they switch over to CNN for Dobbs) Mother in law walked by as the troops were mobbing Obama and said, "are they protesting him?" WTF! What could explain that other than non stop brainwashing by FAUX.

15. Stalin's gotta be totally jealous of the corporate whore media.
I don't know what news channels they get down in Hell (FAUX is an obvious choice) but you know that old Joe and Hitler have to be impressed with the level of propagandizing, which exceeds anything either of them had.

16. Yes....1/3 of 1% (.345% or 10 out of 2900) protest Prez at ND, while....
Obama's percentage of cutting down the deficit by cutting programs that don't work beats that statistic by miles!

But what did CNN say about that percentage? They laughed and ridiculed it!

26. I am also sick of that damn Don Lemon..
yesterday he seemed to be doing his damndest to criticize Michelle Obama's commencement address. He was asking the questions was she right to say how she felt about when she attended the college in Chicago and then within the next twenty minutes it was Laura Bush's turn and he started talking softly and gently and made her sound as though she was something to be worshipped. I scream at this little punk everytime I see him..

Good for you. You should have given up on them long ago. They are not worth the high blood pressure. The best way to fight them is to stop watching. The more people do that, then the more they will take notice.

29. That will teach us the next
time there's a "teabagger" or some such lame attempt from the rw to be relevant.

We had a DUer who reported in GD that he had been interviewed by local news in Phoenix because he sat there with his signage stating Obama's exact position on taxes.

cnn has fallen so far from their esteemed place in the world of news..now it's just garbage sensationalism with their pundits craving themselves to be the news.

It's so horrible.

Well I do put it on in the morning for the weather. This morning on The Today show I was treated to the hosts talking about poverty as if it was some new thing. Ever since this recession hit, people that matter are encountering hardship, so it's newsworthy. Made me want to be sick.

All the outrage and protest of the last several years and now they are trying to lure citizens to be a protester.

I think you have a good idea. If they want to show anti-Obama protesters only, then we all need to show up with anti CNN signs.
