1. Sorry, but I edited, and changed the last selection from "Can't Decide"
to Election Night Victory Speech.

Sorry! :(

2. IMO, disposing of the Reverend Wright situation with that masterful race speech remains...
...his highest point in front of a microphone to date. The stakes were incredibly high and he crushed a grand slam. The nomination and presidency were only a matter of time after that performance. There was no bump in the entire road harder for him than "God **** America."

This speech was right behind it.

3. I was torn....and I have listened to this new one three times,
and it is getting better with each listening.

But yeah...religion and race; both very divisive subject matters.

And yeah....That Reverend Wright situation was quite volatile.
Could have broke him, and instead it make him.

4. Very difficult to pick one....but I went with the race speech. It was
such a strong speech during such an important time during the campaign.

6. Other--It was a damned fine speech. It answered the critics, and it
disarmed the haters, and for those who would not be disarmed, it made them look like rabid fools.

It did what he set out to do.

Then, many of his other speeches have done that, too.

11. The best DVD collection I've found has 8 of his speeches.
It is a CD of the music of the '08 campaign and a DVD with 8 complete Obama 2008 speeches.

CHANGE IS NOW: Renewing America's Promise
The Official Music & Video Collection

I've seen it on Amazon and also sold by Time-Life.

..... you never forget your first time.

I'd list the Primary acceptance speech in Minneapolis as my second fav. You know, the one where he turned into Moses and pushed the oceans back. :)

From your poll, I voted for the Turkish Parliament speech because I feel it's generally underrated. That's prob. my fav. of the current term, that and the "Only a Union" speech he gave on Lincoln's birthday.

14. Too many speeches, not enough categories (you only get 10)
Which would you have left out....cause you are right, the Convention speech certainly should have been included!

15. See, there's the problem .......
.... it's not like any of them are mediocre .... my least favorite were prob. the Inaugural or the DNC acceptance speech but I think that's because of all the hype around them and because he toned down the rhetorical flourishes on those ..... and I'm all about those rhetorical flourishes.

I made the mistake of watching the Minneapolis speech one time while I was on the treadmill and started crying so hard I almost fell off! lol ..... I need to get out more.

Maybe you should do another series of polls divided into time frames ..... 2009, 2007-2008 and then another poll that reads, "How did the 2004 speech change your life!" lol

16. Here is the Lincoln's bday speech for anyone who missed it.....
..... another speech that's pretty underrated IMO.

He uses the same underlying theme as yesterday that we'll never get past our problems unless we do it TOGETHER.

17. Denver is still my favorite
but the Philly race speech was what fully won me over.

This ND speech was amazing though. Womens rights and anti abortion zealots cannot meet halfway on abortion, it is impossible, so let us work together on what we can agree on without giving an inch on a womans right to choose.

18. I was torn, but picked the race speech
I also loved his Cooper Union speech when he called out deregulation. There are just so many to choose for different reasons.

19. I really liked this speech because it was an honest statement on abortion.
If you don't like abortions, help reduce the #. And Prez Obama could not be more correct, it IS a heart wrenching decision for any woman/girl. My cousin had one at 15, one of my close friends was 22. It left major psychological damage for both but neither wanted to try adoption as they both said that might have been even MORE painful. One was in high school, the other in college. The boyfriends they had were both physically abusive, too add to it all.
Its NEVER an easy decision, even if the woman acts like it is. That is what sickens me when these extremists on the pro life side yell "baby killers".

20. oh man, Frenchie....
you are asking for, IMHO, an impossible decision....

I simply could not choose, as I think they all have
their place and purpose. I continue to be astounded
by his facile use of language and his desire to go
into the heart of the controversy....and soothe it.

They all exceeded my expectations and the purposes of each were different. It's like making me choose which of my children I loved the most (if I HAD any children). :D
