Is Pelosi Being Targeted Unfairly by some of her Fellow Democrats?
I hesitate to post this but, it's seeming to me that Dems are supporting the Pelosi Overthrow... Otherwise the Obama President and Dems in Senate and House could have SHUT DOWN this RW and MSM Onslaught against her. Instead the media has run for over a week with "Nancy accuses the CIA of Lying" story and little defense of her has been seen on the Cables.

I've never been a fan of Pelosi...but Hoyer as her replacement would be a disaster, imho. Is it Hoyer and Emmanuel doing this?

Any thoughts? From Progressives, particularly?

1. If there's room to angle, they will. They're politicians.
It's not personal, imho.

5. Hey....
I know where you come from...I was pissed at Nancy blaming Code Pink for "underwear spoiling her shrubery" in CA...and I really don't care for her.

BUT! How do you feel about how she's being treated. I've felt she's been supporting the "Black Caucus" and trying to stand up against the RW pushing Obama since then. She's seemed much better than Reid who shoots down most of what the House Passes. Do I feel Nancy is weak...and stammering and sort of foolish looking...? YES...

BUT...Steney Hoyer? Do you think he would be better? I do believe he's behind the "Pelosi has to Go" along with Rahm. But, as I said...I've not been a fan of hers...and I do have a connection with Code Pink so her comments about them pissed me.

Anyway...what do you think? Hoyer or Pelosi?

6. Without commenting on either, it's just politics.
That's really what I mean.

3. No. I think Pelosi and O---created this cockamamie (I can't spell that) story.
They were like..Pelosi will be the canon in the sinking ship that is called Republican GOP. And she hit them where they can't be remedied. She's like the glacier that took out the titanic. Oh, easy to move around or we'll just ignore the wench as she falls. And then she just rips into them...and they get destroyed. It's like all the shit that was going on people are like Pelosi lied...and then one by one by one, we find out everything and everyone else was lying and Pelosi was telling the truth.

It was a set up.

To be honest...I really don't know but I'm sticking to my story above because this is the weirdest thing I've ever seen it. It's like a really complicated chess move that you think you know the outcome and then fail...I'd say it's the King & Pawn Checkmate.

7. Well...that's certainly an explanation worth watch to see how it pans out...
it's possible it's a "chess match."

Thanks for your reply.

4. GOP talk radio can drive the media and this is a good example of it.....
the rest of the lazy media is well trained to jump on the talk radio bandwagon with all those prechewed talking points and one liners.

one thing is for sure- dem politicians sure don't drive the media. and anyway, they probably don't have much more info than anyone else as far as supporting her.

8. It looks like Obama threw her a lifeline:
(05-19) 15:44 PDT Washington -- President Obama pointedly singled out House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for kudos today, lending vital support to the embattled San Francisco Democrat.

In a sun-soaked Rose Garden ceremony announcing tighter auto emissions and mileage standards, Obama opened by heaping praise on Pelosi, saying she has "just been cracking the whip and, you know, making Congress so productive over these last several days. We are grateful for her."

A top Democrat also demanded that the CIA correct a factual error in its timeline of congressional torture briefings at the heart of Pelosi's troubles.

While the dustup over what Pelosi was told by the CIA on Sept. 4, 2002, has hurt her poll numbers, there is no sign that it has damaged her hold on power or even dented her ability to enact Obama's ambitious agenda. Pelosi is plotting a summer drive to overhaul health care and is orchestrating a swirl of legislation on housing, credit cards and military procurement that Obama will soon sign.

10. The Repukes tried to mug the Speaker
Edited on Tue May-19-09 08:48 PM by pscot
and she stuck a thumb in thier eye and and applied a knee to the family jewels. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I would guess that making the Speaker really angry while failing to bring her down is probably not the best survival strategy. That goes for the CIA too. She signs their paychecks.

11. Not sure how Obama could shut it down
he wasnt in the briefings nor was he in the Congress or admin when the lies were told to Pelosi. He has as much credibility on this issue as any man on the street.

Pelosi needs the other Dems in Congress to help her fight fire with fire. Not Obama or Panetta.

Most Democrats are certainly shying away from the many fair ways to target her.
