1. Comes from know-it-alls like Turley
and racists on the right who automatically assume a Hispanic woman cannot be that smart.

3. It's the same strategy as getting Obama split-screened vs Cheney
We are conditioned to believe there are two equal sides to every issue, regardless of whether one is wrong.

Here, they are equating Sotomayor with Harriet Miers.

4. How could they possibly equate the two? Sotomayor has a credible resume for SC Justice.
Miers didn't.

6. these were talking points discussed before she was even chosen
when she was a leading possibility. They want to cast her as the "next Harriet Meiers". Insane, isn't it? Also racist, misogynistic, and horrible. Just like that goddam fucker Burton. I hate him almost worse than anyone else on the hill. He's just so acid.

Add to him Mica, the two Oklahoma dufuses, and a few others that don't come to mind at the moment.

9. Harriet Meiers was woefully inexperienced for the job.
I don't know much about her intelligence, but she was dropped like a bag of wormed apples because she didn't have the experience.

The comparison is ridiculous.

exaggeration. He teaches constitutional law. He thinks quite highly of himself. His peers don't have the same high opinion.

The fans of Glenn Beck, Michael Savage, Michael Reagan, Sean Hannity, and George W. Bush would never oppose the nomination of someone who they thought was "stupid", they would openly applaud it.
