Interesting Prop 8 analysis
Apparently there's more to the story than the headline.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/5/26/735571/-Read-page-36.-They-just-cut-Prop-8-to-the-bone.

Basically all Prop 8 did was prevent the term "marriage" from being used. That's still important and should be fixed, but the court said all people have the same legal rights.

the rights of straight married couples are.

Saying that a domestic partnership has the same rights as marriage is bogus, as domestic partnerships do not cross state or country lines.

My marriage in Canada is recognized in NY. My domestic partnership in Canada would not be.

but maybe one day soon the people will vote to allow gay marriage just like they allow straight marriage.
