Alberto Gonzales praises choice of Sotomayor |
|
Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who was once viewed as a likely first Hispanic Supreme Court justice ...
Reduce...... , had some praise Tuesday for President Obama’s nominee to the high court.
Appearing on CNN’s “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer,” Gonzales heralded Sotomayor’s nomination as a positive sign for the Hispanic community.
“This is a powerful message, a powerful message of hope and opportunity through this appointment,” Gonzales said, “just like there's a powerful message sent when an African-American is elected president or an African-American or a Hispanic is appointed as attorney general of the United States.”
But Gonzales also said Republicans would be wrong to give Sotomayor a pass because of her ethnicity. “They have an obligation to vet every nominee carefully. Whether or not that nominee is Hispanic, white, African-American, male or female, they have an obligation,” he said. “And I expect them to discharge that -- that obligation.”

2. So his "ties" to Hispanic hertiage are more important to him?..... |
|
Maybe he fears that he will be charged with war crimes and hopes our heroine Hispanic justice will dismiss his conviction and sentencing to death.
