It's really hard talking to Repukes nowadays.
Back in the past, you used to be able to sit down and have a nice conservation with some of the saner Pukes. Sure, they were wrong, they got on your nerves, but they knew what they were talking about and could articulate where they were coming from. But now, every Puke I've talked to just parrots Rush Limbaugh's talking points. They are bombastic and usually just demagogue their way through arguments. Limbaugh and the rest of conservative hate radio has truly been a cancer on the political discourse of this country.

Something needs to be done about the stranglehold Limbaugh and conservative hate radio have on the public airwaves. It's not healthy for this country's political discourse.

1. I agree, although the bright side is that
since they all really do use the exact same parroted talking points, once I've bothered to refute one of them, it becomes simpler to refute the others.

The problem is that they don't listen nor do they care.

2. I have an Air America outlet in my area that I am happy with.
Do not frequent local sponsors of Limbaugh and others and let them know.

5. Limbaugh just appeals to their common denominator.
That common denominator is their hatred of "Liberal," and their ideology will always be perverse as long as it is hate based.

How sane are the "saner Pukes" when they allow themselves to be dominated by this hate based group? They are a cancer--a cancer on more than just the political discourse. Look what they did to our country over the past 30 years. They are a cancer on everything.

14. Well, to be fair
A criticism of our party is that we allow ourselves to be led by corporate technocrats who betray the very idea of what function Democrats are expected to perform for their constituencies, and hence get nothing of note accomplished.

But yes, our woes are far less of a cancer on the body politic than theirs.

8. Maybe if you didn't call them pukes you'd be easier to get along with
Seriously, if someone referred to you as vomit, how hospitable would you find them?

9. I agree....
I just had a knock-down blowout with my Right-Wing nut brother. Afterwords I carefully rehashed each of our exchanges. I came away with the Conclusion that my brother is now Mentally Ill. He is showing classic signs of Disconnect; you know, Cognitive Dissonance, where his beliefs have no connection to reality. He is hopeless in his knowledge that he can NEVER change. He is really hurting about the election and the hate that I got out of him was monumental, as was mine right back at him. I know I shouldn't do it, but I had to push all of his buttons....I am not in a very forgiving state of mind after the 30 years of oppression we are emerging from. I admitted to myself that I just fucking hate Republicans. I don't/can't hate any other group, just Republicans. My best advice to him was to get used to it, and "welcome to my world". He wants to leave the country...made me smile wondering what Country he could go to...or Planet for that matter.

In case anyone is interested in the truth, he hashed it all out for me. Obama is a Black Muslim...."on their side". Obama stole the election via Acorn and hundreds/thousands/millions of "Mickey and Minnie Mouse" voters. Obama is giving all of his Chicago Crime Pals the money now. Obama will be shot and killed. Jimmy Carter is the worst President ever. Nancy Pelosi is a useless piece of trash. There is no need for any Alternative Energy or Green Technology, Big Oil and Big Business are OK by him. Unions ruined the country. NO need for any adjustment in our "health care" system, especially single payer.

I felt like he aced the talking points test for Fox News Viewers...his only source for news. Can't say that I blame him for that, as looking into alternative sources would only add to his Dissonance.

oh, and btw...welcome to du!

10. IMO that is because there are few sane republicans left. Years ago
the repub party used to look much more like Powell and some of our own conservative dems. Since rr the lemmings have been headed over the cliff and we do not recognize them anymore.

13. there is a media component to this
The media provides an outlet, 24x7, for the far right assholes. chEEney, Gingrich, Boehner, Buchanan. Thus public discourse it between the far right and center and anything slightly progressive becomes far left.
