"...Shooting comes..after Pres Obama stirred up controversy by making a major speech on abortion"
The shooting comes a fortnight after President Obama stirred up controversy by making a major speech on abortion at Notre Dame, one of the main Catholic universities in the US.

Mr Obama is a supporter of abortion rights and has angered opponents by reversing restrictions on government funding for embryonic stem cell research and for international family planning organizations.

So, is the Daily Mail (UK) sort of intimating that the President 'provoked' Dr Tiller's murder?

3. I had a friend who made a joke about a 187th trimester abortion on Friday.
Does he share blame as well?

14. It's an old Dennis Miller joke.
One of the HBO specials, can't remember which. Ironically, he made it in defense of the Pro Choice side. He was actually talking about killing abortion doctors and how stupid the people who did it were. He sarcastically compared killing a doctor to an abortion in the 300th trimester.

11. They're NUTS! The rest of 'em were saying the guy "had it coming" and is now in hell. I
guess "pro-lifers" only care about embryos. :eyes:

6. should we really expect different from the Daily Heil?
I'm sure the Torygraph will join in soon.

I guess when an attempt was made on this same man's life in the 90's, Obama had just given a speech then as well.

9. It wasn't a "major speech on abortion". It wouldn't have been about
abortion at all if the "pro-lifers" hadn't made a stink.

with rally calls by the arrested man that people go to Tiller's church.

edited to add: the RW has nothing real to fight with Obama so they need a long, hot hot summer to add to his burdens.

controversy..the opposite.

<snip>

"But as you leave here today, remember the lessons of Cardinal Bernardin, of Father Hesburgh, of movements for change both large and small. Remember that each of us, endowed with the dignity possessed by all children of God, has the grace to recognize ourselves in one another; to understand that we all seek the same love of family, the same fulfillment of a life well lived. Remember that in the end, in some way we are all fishermen."

16. No Stirring up
It's almost like some want to blame Obama for the murder, which is of course ridiculous.
Whether you/we/I agree with him or not (and I do), he's simply doing his job - doing what he thinks need to be done.
He can't simply be quiet in case something bad may happen!

17. Well, they caught the guy, and if he's like most fundie whackjobs -
- he won't be able to stop talking about how his Lord and Savior compelled him to act to save the unborn babies.

Give him a week and he's on Today or 20/20.

19. If anything, it as the Catholic Church that stirred up controversy
They made it about abortion, not the President.
