Beau Biden meets with visiting senator in Baghdad

WASHINGTON - When Sen. Patrick Leahy visits U.S. troops serving in other countries, he makes it a practice to call their parents when he gets home.

So after Leahy traveled to Iraq and spoke to an Army captain serving there, he called the captain's father -- Vice President Joe Biden.

Leahy bumped into Biden’s son, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, while visiting Camp Victory near Baghdad International Airport.

The younger Biden, a captain in the Delaware Army National Guard’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps, is deployed in Iraq with the 261st Signal Brigade. Leahy said Biden was exercising with other troops when he spotted him and came over to chat.

“It was interesting seeing him,” said the Vermont Democrat. “I’ve known him since he was about six, seven years old. To see him in Iraq is an entirely different view.”

There is a nice picture with the link. Who knows, maybe in a few years that'll be them on the floor of the Senate working together on some project.

2. It pains me to see anybody's child over there ...
... but, I am proud of the Biden family.

As an aside, Delaware was my favorite place (outside of Michigan) to live.
