It's not necessary to attack our president over mindless, trivial things. |
|
Leave that to the Republicans. We'll most certainly be protective of our president if he is attacked because of something his wife wore or because of a date night or because he quoted -- not praised -- a former president.
Those are trivial attacks. You can have a lively and spirited debate about his policies without resorting to petty and pathetic attacks that don't do anything to further the dialogue.
President Obama is not perfect. He won't be the perfect president and he will have his failings. But that doesn't mean every word and action should be parsed in order to further an agenda.
If that's what the next eight years will be like, it's going to be mind-numbing here.

4. There are those here who have such a critical spirit |
|
that I wonder what it must be like to be their SO, spouse, or children. Of course, theirs is the righteous and noble constructive criticism so in their minds it is golden, as if they possess all that is truth and know all there is to be known and how it should be done.

|
isn't over yet, so how the hell can DOMA and DADT be broken promises? Because they weren't done in the first few months? LOL

|
the sand, isn't it? NAFTA...repeal and rework it while campaigning, now he thinks it just needs to be tweaked. I can't think of anything he's even remotely started carrying through on. Realese the troture photos while campaigning, don't release while president; withdraw the troops in 16 month; as president, well, we'll see.

17. You might consider that once the President is in office and has access to information |
|
that wasn't there on the campaign trail, they might have to alter their plans.
I personally don't have a problem with a President who has an idea in mind, such as releasing the torture photos, then upon hearing threats from within Iraq that things could get really ugly for U.S. troops, has the ability to reconsider his decision.
Had Bush been in office, he'd be doing what he damn well pleased once he made up his mind, and that didn't work out too well.

during the campaign.
Its clear now that its useless talking to you. You now result to lying to criticize the President.

6. Even on the big stuff. Lincoln wasn't an abolishionist until later in his presidency. |
|
Edited on Mon Jun-08-09 06:25 PM by Gregorian
He hated slavery, but didn't think the Constitution gave the right to abolish it.
I think this has parallels to our present president. And then there is the complexity of politics. If Obama were in a vacuum, who knows what he'd have already done. He's in a tug of war. With morons. Haha.
We're talking monumental shifts and changes. They require superhuman, and infinite patience. Not easy.

|
Edited on Mon Jun-08-09 06:57 PM by mkultra
Lincoln clearly stood with the abolitionists before he was elected which is why southern states immediately succeeded when he won the election.
DADT promise has not been broken and neither has Iraqi withdrawal. Yes, your criticisms are trivial.

18. EXACTLY! Shouldn't we be able to vote on this kind of behavior? |
|
It is "DEMOCRATIC" Underground. It would be nice if by a general concensus we could all work with the admins and mods to determine what are clearly ridiculous attempts to flame the President and what are substantive questions we SHOULD and WANT to be able to talk about.
I agree there is room for many thoughts and positions on where the Obama administration is with health care reform, DADT, gay and other civil rights, Afghanistan, Iraq, torture, etc.
But to see the constant threads about what he wears, who he quotes, whether he snubbed France??? WTF??

|
:evilfrown: You want to keep doin it to prove you can, you own it, it's toxic and you like acting like piranhas and the tribe has spoken.
Yeah your own little cesspool to decide what is trivial and what's worthy and what deserves to be kicked upside the head because you can and you get away it.
Degrading the quality of discourse for everyone.
