RW radio haters Hewitt and Limbaugh back GM boycott - DNC nails repugs for rooting for failure
Right-wing radio hosts Hewitt and Limbaugh back GM boycott
Gordon Trowbridge / Detroit News Washington Bureau

Washington -- A pair of right-wing radio hosts says there's only one choice for conservatives angry about government involvement in the auto industry: Boycott GM.

"Nobody wants to support an Obama company," Rush Limbaugh told his audience Friday, citing a poll showing that 17 percent of Americans backed a boycott of GM.

"Every dollar spent with GM is a dollar spent against free enterprise," conservative talker Hugh Hewitt wrote online last week.

Conservatives in Congress and elsewhere have criticized the federally sponsored restructuring plan GM will seek to execute in bankruptcy court.

The plan would give the federal government a 60 percent ownership stake in the company; lawmakers such as Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., have labeled that socialism.

The popular, controversial Limbaugh didn't outright call for a boycott, but said he understood why people would want to avoid GM vehicles. "They don't want to patronize Obama. They don't want to do anything to make Obama's policies work."

A GM spokesman declined to comment Monday.

But the Democratic National Committee, which has spent plenty of time in recent months cataloging Limbaugh's calls for the failure of President Barack Obama's economic policies, leapt at the chance to do so again.

"While it's not surprising that Rush Limbaugh would root for the failure of a national institution for partisan political gain, it is surprising that the other so-called leaders of the Republican party are silently going along with him given how many hard working Americans rely on GM for a living," said DNC spokesman Hari Sevugan.

So far, there is little evidence that the government's involvement is turning off buyers. In bankruptcy for the entire month of May, Chrysler had its best sales month of the year.

4. You are absolutely right!
This attack by rush on an advertiser raises questions in my mind. GM IS an advertiser on his show as I have heard them myself. Hopefully, this attack by Limbaugh is just plain ol' OxyRush being a moron and GM will respond as any company should by dropping their advertising of his show. If they do NOT drop their ads from his show, one MUST consider other motives for this attack. It could very well be that Rush's attack somehow benefits someone at GM. It MIGHT be that Rush's attack on GM is merely a tactic worked out by executives of the company to secure certain things in the futore like exobitant salries or someting else. My point is that if GM does NOT stop their advertising on his program they are behaving in a very illogical manner and all options, like this could have been planned, should be considered.

2. Rush is pushing action based on a poll showing 17% support for said action?
I guess Rush realizes that he makes enough money preaching to the choir that there's no reason to even show reasonable logic anymore.

I've said it before....If Rush told his fans that a pitcher labled "cyanide" was actually grape juice they'd go ahead and slug it without a moment's thought.

10. These people are beyond stupid...
they would throw thousands out of work, (not themselves of course), just to "make a point"...if they hate GM, maybe they should sell their stock in the company.

The absolute insanity of the RW is disturbing...here we are in a severe recession, and these dolts think that boycotting GM is a "good idea"...more people out of work, more foreclosures on tenuous mortgages, more bankruptcies, more dependence on the social services they so despise, less revenue coming into the states where they are employed, less money going into the small businesses in the area...What The F*** Are these clowns thinking?...My bad...they never think!

16. That's only another cheap slogan from these goons...
as long as they can make money, they don't care what happens.

ithas never been aboout the nation, it has always been about how much they can get, and how quickly they can get it. I had to wonder just what Limbaugh "did" that was worth $400 million over a few years.

If any of these jerks truly cared about the country, they'd be working to fix the problems they've helped create, but that would cost money, all they can understand is how to takemoney; it is all about destruction of what they "say" they, when all they really love is the accumulation of cash.

it is amazing how openly evil they can be...
most "bad" people I know try very hard to cover up their nasty side...not so the goomers in the GOP; they relish being as evil and fouls as they can be.

Personally, I hope they keep it up...they will never have power again, for each time some RW goon opens his trap, good people leave the GOP. My mother is a lifelong R, she despises what the party has become...for the first time in her voting life, she refused to vote for the R candidate, McCain...she said he was a fool, and after 8 years of bush, the nation would never survive another idiot in the WH. She would not pull the lever for a D, but she left "president" off the ballot...:D

11. My parents bought a K Car in the early 80's
They had bought a car a few years earlier and rarely bought new cars. They had some spare cash and Chrysler was in BK. So a union guy and a lady who had a picture of JFK hanging until she had to go into assisted living buy a Chrysler to help the economy. I doubt they thought it would help Reagan look good, the thought was it would help the U.S. economy, and that is what drove the purchase.

The car was ugly and a piece of shit by the way.

18. Talk about anti-American! The GOP continues to stab itself in the face!
This surely will not bode well for them in the next elections. And if this doesn't prove to the blue-collar "bubba" crowd once and for all that the GOP does not give a shit about them, they're beyond help.
