New Rule...... P.J. O'Rourke should not be considered a humorist. |
|
Bill, please, just cause you shared a bong or two with this ass hat doesn't mean that he is funny.
He hasn't been funny since he left the National Lampoon. And I think the only reason they tolerated him back then because he wore a bow tie and believe you me, that was funny to teenagers back in the '70's.

I remember back in the 90s when he had his HBO show I thought he was funny. I don't know, see back then, I had no idea he was a republican (I didn't keep track of that stuff back then)

Not always, of course, but who is?

9. PJ sucks eggs and talks too loud |

But Bill and the show as a whole were excellent tonight, very funny and one of the best this season. Some folks get upset when he tells critical jokes about political figures they like. Those folks should not watch him, as he makes critical jokes about political figures across the board. All of them. People who don't like that should skip him and stick with the sitcoms and such.

in '80 or '81.
I still loved the 'Funny Pages' (Aesop Brothers! Dirty Duck!) stuff and a few of the parodies had held up well, but there were a few things that seemed mean-spirited and almost racist, Like a board game called 'Cloo' set in a ghetto with stereotyped latinos and blacks as the equivalents of Professor Plum and Miss Scarlet. If it had been Dave Chappelle saying it, fine, but from the mouths of white upperclass Harvardites, it just came off icky.
It had a few very cringably sexist moments in it too. I wound up getting rid of it.
As for Peej, I didn't think he was all that funny in the Lampoon days and he hasn't bothered to stretch his persona at all. He's a boring upper-class twit who thinks his farts are funny when they make other people grimace.

I was wrong. National Lampoon was a spinoff of Harvard Lampoon...

12. O'Rourke is a seriously unfunny boor. I groan whenever he pops up on Real Time. |
|
Geez Bill, if you are doling out pity appearances for your unemployed friends, NEW RULE: THEY HAVE TO BE FUNNY
O'Rourke is like Hitchens, still rum-soaked, but without the erudition.

13. I saw him on TV over here in Australia when he was over here recently |
|
And I must concede that I was very impressed with him. I didn't agree with some of the things he said but I found him quite amusing and charming and I liked the fact that he was prepared to think outside the box of traditional right wing talking points on issues such as immigration. I would prefer him over most of the right wing commentators who are around at the moment
