Team Kerry blew the first chance to stick it to Rove. Now the RNC has

by accusing the Dems of meeting w/ Burkett, given them an opportunity to try again.

Here's the line: "We have no idea if these Documents are real or not. We had nothing to do with them. What we do know is strange things like this happen every time Karl Rove is in charge of a campaign. Like Dan Bartlett himself said, 'This is Texas Politics. They play dirty'"

Sadly, my guess is that there are a lot of hands creeping towards the ol' ankles instead.

3. Something tells me running a presidential campaign
against your opponent's strategist isn't a promising idea. Running against your opponent's VP choice is a proven loser (see 1968 and 1988), but running against a strategist, whom no one but junkies (whose minds are made up) has heard of should score points?

4. Who wants to run against Rove? The issue at hand is THIS story.
Edited on Mon Sep-20-04 04:21 PM by John_H
Rove understands that it doesn't matter who is the source of the documents. He wants to tie a CBS fuckup to the dems. We can let him or not.

i think we should do exactly what they do. Turn it around, spatter some shit back at them. Get your hand in the story. Make them pay a some kind of cost for doing coming at you, for chrissakes. Maybe nobody except junkies will pay attention. Maybe we can inform a few non-junkies rove's "bug" and "debate tape." But, once again, the choice is clear: push back with a counter attack or bend over by playing defense.

My fear is that people at the DNC are saying, "If we just keep quiet, this will go away." It'll go away alright-- right after most people believe John Kerry typed the memos up himself.
