Olbermann is not a bad guy, loyal Obama supporters, need to call him out when he is wrong! |
|
Edited on Thu Jun-18-09 01:21 PM by wndycty
I support President Obama like no one else but he needs to be called out sometimes and Keith is doing the right thing. The last thing we as Democrats should do is just follow blindly. Now for the record I resent those DUers and others who sit in the corner and criticize everything Obama does and say he is not progressive enough, yada yada yada. However there is PLENTY of room for constructive criticism. Both Keith Olbermann and Bill Maher have correctly been critical of President Obama lately.
I got Obama's back but part of having his back is keeping him honest by calling him out when necessary.

1. OTH..Olbermann and Maher aren't |
|
perfect, either and they can be called out,as well..and it would be nice if their criticism was totally steeped in reality.

9. I know you didn't say he was perfect but |
|
from the posts around here..he's not allowed criticism, either.
My point was that they should use more reality in their critiques.

5. Of course. But disagree with their STATEMENTS. |
|
20 posts calling them ELITE HOLLYWOOD STOOGES is embarrassing. (Especially since KO lives in NYC).

2. Amen and I don't even like Keith |

I do like Maddow, however.
Really, if you can't take criticism from "family" you need to check yourself. At least they want you to do well, not fail.

4. But we shouldn't criticize blindly either.... |
|
... which is not directed to you and is not applicable to ALL of his critics here ... but it does apply to far, far too many.
Whole lotta shouting ..... not so much reading. ;)

6. I just shut Olbermann off for a while |

For the most part, he's become the very thing that he bashed O'Reilly about for years. The obsession with Limbaugh doesn't help either. We know that guy is a crazy douche. Without MSNBC rebroadcasting his comments I'd have no idea what he was saying, and that would be just fine by me. For the most part, Limbaugh doesn't need a response; he just needs to be ignored.

8. Calling criticism of Obama "constructive" is the mantle and cover used by some |
|
to say whatever they like.
I don't know if calling this criticism as being done within the family is accurate either. I truly feel sorry for the family of some here if they treat them with the same critical and judgmental spirit along with the supposedly "constructive" criticism that is used here on Obama. In my family we cut each other some slack and do not demand perfection or always our own way because they are family.

One must wonder if they were ever shown mercy in their individual lives for their failures and shortcomings; My guess is, they weren't. So, they're just paying it forward. After all, you can't give away what you don't have.

I wouldn't put him in the same category as Maher or Maddow or some of the kooks on Air America.

18. I love watching Keith. Even when he criticizes Obama. I don't LIKE when he |
|
Edited on Thu Jun-18-09 07:38 PM by jenmito
criticizes Obama, but if it's fair and accurate criticism, I keep on watching. And just now he acknowledged that he was wrong (or that he'll defer to the White House) about a "Presidential Memorandum" being about identical to an "Executive Order."
What I DON'T like is when people WRONGLY portray something about Obama's position on something. Such as when Rachel totally left out part of what Robert Gibbs said in defending Obama's position on something, totally changing the meaning. It was something I expect the people at Faux to do-not Rachel. Or when Maher claimed Obama hasn't accomplished anything besides being a celebrity-like Lindsay Lohan. He also claimed the Uighurs were each given $100,000 when released in Bermuda.
Fair call-outs are perfectly acceptable. Half-reporting, mis-representing, or just lying about something is not.
