Advice needed about letters to my newspaper |
|
I have had 3 letters published since March in our newspaper...all in support of Kerry. I have received 2 post cards from an individual who signed the first one but not the second. It's very obvious the same person typed both of them. I'm not alone in receiving these cards. Others are also getting them. He says: I don't mean to insult your intelligence and then proceeds to denounce your views or to denigrate what a liberal is.
What would you do about these cards? I have found out where this person lives and his phone number.
So far I have ignored the cards, but I'm pissed enough to slug him if I could see him face to face.
What do you say?

1. Call him up and tell him about the Bush-Osama links |
|
You'll just have to pick a good time to do it.
Two in the morning is always good.

if he's threatened you in any way or if you think he's a dangerous nut maybe you should contact the police.

4. I've had people respond by calling me up, and if they get insulting |
|
or argumentative in any way, I tell them just respond to my ideas in print by writing their own letter.
That's part of the cost of writing a LTTE, and there isn't a whole lot you can do about it.
If you know the guy's address, you might send him a postcard saying that you aren't going to change his mind and he's not going to change yours, so he should just save his postage.

Consult your county or district chair for possible actions. S/He might suggest notifying appropriate authorities for your protection. Meaning both physical and documenting what has been happening.
Respond to him in writing to the local newspaper. Rebut his statements and include his statements especially if they are outrageous. You can state the reason that you have your views are because of supporting facts. Explain why you are proud to be a Liberal.
