I am not sure how many get it now. I hear people that are getting tired of the whining gays. Goodness.

Take away or never give you, your right to family. Take away or never give, respect for your family. Then when you speak up, call you a whiner?

I understand and to a degree see eye to eye with Obama. I too am a bit phobic. I have my narrow minded moments as well.

The thing that gives me clarity, is that I know gay folk that are better people than I am. I have to stand with them on this.

Do you remember the joy of hearing Obama's speeches? I remember thinking, 'He gets it!'

I have to stand with the gays on this one. As I see it, it is freedom of faith, and the pursuit of happiness. I am sick and tired of powder dry democrats.

My suggestion is that the gay community start using their income for the primaries. This might just wake a few congress critters up and have them start thinking about the people they represent.

1. Because Club for Growth's strategy resulted in major gains...
... in the House and Senate for the GOP last November. Good idea.

:sarcasm:

2. It's religion
Face it.

He made his pact with the faithful, and he's unwilling to relinquish humanity's most reliable short-cut.

4. I don't think so. I think religion may effect how he feels about marriage
But I don't think it has anything to do with how he feels about DADT, DOMA, or Equal Rights to Same Sex Couples. He likely wants to change those things. I just think he wants healthcare done first.

Randi Rhodes said Jon Barry (WH OPM) said Obama's plan was to Get Hates Crimes Bill signed, then do DADT, and then DOMA.

5. Time will tell
I have yet to hear an argument against the acceptance of homosexuality that isn't larded in religion. Admittedly, I'm an extreme bigot on the subject of religion, but I keep seeing proof of my assumptions.

We've been asked to "trust" and "have faith" with the glorious progressive deeds in our President's future, but his performance to-date is much more in line with his moderate corporatist past record.

6. The reason why you haven't heard that argument...
...is because there hasn't been one.

3. The guy said he supports repealing DADT and DOMA

Get on Congress to pass it. I'm amazed by the pass Pelosi gets on these issues. She hasn't scheduled any of them for debate.Or expressed her views on either. Both would get through her chamber.

7. I don't think you understand

We can't stand congress and haven't liked our congressional representation for some time on DU. We know they are cowards and corrupt officials.

Pelosi and Reid are very disliked on DU. They don't get blame because we KNOW they suck; they only get our disgust.

And any President that thinks that Congress will do these things unbidden and with no support or leadership from the executive is an idiot. I do not believe Obama is an idiot, therefore he is simply passing the buck...blaming inaction on a body known for inaction. He sent the issue there, so can only blame himself when they don't do their jobs. Any politicians worth their salt knows what will happen in Congress.

Hiding behind congress is not good enough. This goes for both the healthcare issue as well as DOMA and DADT. He cannot play-act that he didn;t know Congress was corrupt and cowardly...he CAME from that body.

PS...sorry to the person below, but you are on ignore. Act like a nicer person to your fellow DUers and perhaps more people would be willing to engage you.

8. i think there is a political reality at play here
simple put, i think that Obama is trying to create an environment of bi-partisanship to help get more moderate issues done. The bi-partisanship cannot last though and once that switch gets flipped, there is no going back. DOMA and DADT are highly charged issues that will create division.

In summary, hes waiting as long as he can before he picks a fight.
