National Black Justice Coalition not attending gay DNC fundraiser
http://www.pamshouseblend.com/diary/11596/national-black-justice-coalition-not-attending-gay-dnc-fundraiser

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel's ballroom count continues to dwindle. Another advocacy group, the only national one for black LGBTs, will not have any representatives at that swiftly decomposing gay fundraiser for the DNC. Jason Bartlett, the National Black Justice Coalition's deputy director, told On Top Magazine:

Barlett, who is also a Connecticut state representative, confirmed no NBJC board member would attend the controversial event, but added that was not a formal endorsement of a DNC boycott.

"I don't know of any board members that are intending on going," Barlett said.

Former director Alexander Robinson is named in the infamous Andrew Tobias "10,400-sq.-foot spa" e-blast"; I have not heard whether he still intends on going. I did communicate with NBJC interim director Sylvia Rhue, who also confirmed that the organization has not taken a position on the boycott itself.

4. I'm actually disappointed in this. This would be a great opportunity to push advocacy.
If the Dems claim their working for a particular group and then not meeting that demand. Then it would be a great time to come to the meeting to put forth more of a protest. A boycott is one thing, but if you don't go to meet the politicians as well and demand some language or even provide some steps to mandate change---

But then again, I could be acting naive. I think there are two ways to look at this and I'd have taken the other step. I'd have probably pulled a Code Pink to myself known.

6. Its not a Town Hall. Its a fund raiser
big difference. People listen a whole lot better when they want a check than when they have a check.

8. there will be plenty of that
a crew is going to film the attendees as they walk in, so there is a video record of who "crossed the picket line."
