First Dad
Taking a break from the issues we can step back and realize that some of the most important contributions that a leader brings is to breathe new meaning into symbols that have gotten stale.

One has to wonder about the capacity of a country in which a person who was abandoned by his father could grow into such a warm parent to his own children. If it allows somebody to grow beyond their immediate reality and achieve this level of personal growth, then what could the country achieve if we grew together?

President Obama has many outstanding qualities but it is his ability to learn from the abstract and incarnate it into real life that stands out to me.

Ironic that the best Dad to ever live in the White House is this skinny kid with big ears, a funny name, and who was without a father figure in his early years.

Stanley Ann Durham Obama, you must have been one hell of a dad in addition to being a great mother.

1. I would rather see how the homeless across America are celebrating today. But many
do not seem to want to be bothered by those images. I think the president can be included in that group.

I posted a sarcastic response to the poster who tried to shit on the good sentiment in this post, but I won't contribute to the negativity. Not today.

Happy Father's Day to all the father's out there.

7. Why don't you quit whining and start
your own thread about what you want instead of taking a dump here?

13. Please...start that thread.
Vent a bit in context instead of randomly inserting your self-loathing tirades into a thread about Fathers Day.

6. Now that really makes this Father's Day very meaningful ~ t xs grantcart

I am really blessed.

Even though my father died when I was 32 years old ( he was just an extra special dad) I have "SPECIAL DAD's" in my life now.

Dad #1 -- My Mom's boyfriend William who is 90 years, Mom is 90 also. He is extra special in my life!

We are going to celebrate with him from 1-2 pm

Then we are going to my SPECIAL DAD Roy's house to have dinner with his family. He was a dentist and pulled my first tooth and we still remain close.

And this is extra special--- when his family moved about 30 years ago, they didn't realize that they bought the house that is on a hill directly in back of our house! It's as if they were put there to keep watch over us and they do.

Then we go to our cousin's house to celebrate the day with her fantastic husband! He is wonderful and always drives us to appointments and he does nice things for Mom and me.

So -- Happy FATHER's DAY to those that a blessed to have children and those that are providing so much joy in the lives of others.

9. As the aunt of two African-American girls, I have to say one of the
reasons I voted for Obama is the public respect and love he shows for his wife and daughters.

15. Thanks Grantcart...What a wonderful post...
I was blessed to have a great father. He passed away in 1998 and I miss him everyday. President Obama is a great example of a good father...one example he sets is loving their mother and showing her respect. Nice Post!
