Obama To McCain and Lindsey: "I am the President and you are the Senators
LOL!! Chris Matthews was smiling whne he, Andrea and Chuckie Todd were discussing the Presidential Press COnference and they said that Obama slammed down and pushed back against John McCain and Lindsey Graham telling them to mind their Senatorial duties that he, Barack Obama, is the President and he is outlining the Iranian policy to follow during the Lipstick Revolution. I wonder how Lindsey and Johnny Mac must feel now...and of course, I am sure Joe Lieberman is sitting next to them...

1. There is still a fundamental failure on the part of some to grasp that Obama won the election
The president was reminding people of that today.

20. I think it is a fundamental disrespect based on Obama's race.
I don't think that the media has quite grasped yet how inappropriate their attitude toward him is. They are so use to looking at minorities as second class citizens that they don't even recognize their own condescending attitude toward him. He is the President of the United States and many still remind us that he is the 1st "black" POTUS. I hear the reference to his race several times a week. It is really quite dismissive of his stature.

Obama really isn't saying anything much different today than he was this weekend. He just hasn't done it at a press conference. Yet they are implying he takes his guidance from someone he defeated. It is really quite demeaning.

22. You are exac tly right - media of all stripes refer to the President as
"Obama", when they called W President Bush long after he proved to be a cynical imbecile.

It is racism, nothing less.

8. Memo to McCain, Graham.
When you win an election you can do it your way. Until then enjoy a nice steaming cup of STFU.

9. So now Obama is acting like Bush. Great, just great.
Bush acted the same way when talking about the axis of evil. If I recall, many Democrats (myself included) were not happy with him.
So now if anybody disagress with Presidential policy they are supposed to keep quiet?

I didn't like this at all. What am I missing?

19. That happens a lot on here. People don't read or get the entire context and respond to only one or
two sentences taken out of context.

13. I think you missed the context.
When asked if his tougher talk was influenced by critics like McCain and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Obama smiled and said, "What do you think?"

"I think John McCain has genuine passion about many of these international issues," Obama said, adding that they share a desire to see free speech respected. "But only I'm the president of the United States."

"Members of Congress, they've got their constitutional duties, and I'm sure they'll carry them out in a way they think is appropriate," Obama said. "I'm the president of the United States, and I'll carry out my responsibilities the way I think is appropriate."
