Domestic agenda?
I know Obama is an excellent multi-tasker and is supremely capable of handling the pressures of his job AND he has accomplished quite a bit .... BUT
His Europe/Africa trips might come across to the casual observers as being unconnected with daily problems ...
Obama seems to be on cruise control with respect the stimulus instead of proactively making adjustments to how the program is being implemented ... Saying that we need patience and it will be two years before we see changes - while less than 10% of the money has gone out of the door after six months -- I cant be anything but begin to be skeptical.
This is my impression ... and I think I speak for many.

as it can no longer afford to blow everyone off and go it alone on a whole host of issues.

Foreign policy was thrown into the trash by GWB, Obama has as big a task in that area as he does domestically. The stimulus was planned to be a 2 year program, so we do need patience. The urge for the quick fix and instant gratification is what got us into this mess to begin with.
As for the trips, its not like he went on vacation. Are you suggesting the US president skip the G8 and NATO summits?

I think that success of the stimulus program is critical to the success of Obama's first term... Money spent too little , too late is money not spent at all ..
I dont see enough urgency that this issue requires... The stock market rebounded quickly and everyone became complacent ... and this is not the time for complacency.

6. Senior Bush lost an election because he was PERCEIVED |

to be more focused on Foreign Policy while people suffered.
This is a fine line to walk.
Obama needs to correct the perception that we are not following through. Money has not been distributed --oops.
Democrats have made a fatal mistake over and over. Being too slow to respond and thinking the Media is going to get your story out, We cannot assume the Public understands.

12. LOL. Remember when he suspended his campaign? |
|
Obama can do it all and he must. There are huge problems domestically AND in the world that cannot be ignored. Iran, China, Russia, North Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Israel and Palestine. You cannot go "slow" with any of them.

I understand we need to heal old wounds abroad, and he can certainly do this and work on the domestic agenda at the same time, but I would rather him, and Congress, focus more on domestic issues at this time.
