Are there any polls in England/Canada about how the people there feel about their healthcare systems
?

I keep hearing conservatives harping on how horrible the systems are, but this is always coming from Americans.

1. Polls aren't necessary.
Just try to find a Canuck or a Brit that would gladly trade places with a US citizen.

2. Here's a recent poll: 82% of Canadians Prefer it over U.S. system.

I'm Canadian and i can tell you we'd be considered suicidal to prefer your system. Your system is broken and clearly doesnt care about its people. Crazy world!

4. Lately, Brits and Canadians have been calling into various radio shows
like Thom Hartmann and Ed Schultz's show to tell what their system is like. They are offended at the way the RW has untruthfully portrayed their systems. You can probably go over podcasts of their shows and get plenty of testimony if you are trying to build up a case.

citizen.

8. My brother has been conducting his own straw poll for years.
He asks every person he meets from another country whether they would trade the US healthcare system with their own. He has asked Asians, Europeans and even an Iraqi at his company. Dozens and dozens of people. He has yet to find ONE person who would trade.

How stupid are we anyway??? (Don't answer that...)

12. Should also ask Americans that live abroad.
They would know what we have and the country they live in have as a comparison.

Or even foreigners that are living here for business and other reasons.

9. Based on what I saw from the video "Sick Around the World"
I doubt they would want the American style.

Sick Around the World showed the British, Swiss, Tawainese, Japanese, and German health care plan. Each has a different delivery method.

If Americans expect the best then why are they willing to accept being 37th in health care? Even though the USA spends more than any other country.

Shouldn't our top rated doctors be able to help us to live longer? Provided we had access to good health care which is difficult with the expense involved.

15. Does anyone truly believe that we are 37th?

If you have cancer, the U.S. has the highest 5 year survival rates in some cancers, and is among the highest in virtually all cancers, and that's even factoring in our uninsured! Read that last part again.

We rank so low because we spend more but get far less in areas like access, but that number is terribly misleading. If anyone really thinks they'd get better treatment in Columbia, I gotta' piece of swampland to sell you. :)

If we could just get the U.S. to go to single payer to INSURE everyone, but leave everything else in tact, we'd jump to the top of the list.

...

...

Well..maybe not. We make such poor lifestyle choices that if life expectency is a factor, we're doomed.

16. Good points. People only site those 3 factors
they never look at other factors like cancer survival rates or knee replacement surgeries or new drug development.

We have some of the worst features and some of the best. It would be nice to be apply the best and eliminate the worst.

in N.Ireland. In all the times I have been in hospital or doctors, I dont have anything really bad to say about it. Prescription charges are being dropped in early 2010 as well, they are £3 at the minute.

For the doctors, you call in the morning and make an appointment and say which doctor in the clinic you would like to be seen by, or if its anything urgent you can just show up and theyll get you seen to.

There are things that can be improved upon, as is the case with everything but all in all I am very happy with it and I wouldnt trade it for any alternative system. Even the food is good (!)

It is a reassuring feeling knowing that if you get ill, there wont be a bill or meddlings with an insurance company to deal with at the end of it.
