Top States for Online Porn (you'll never believe this...or maybe you will.)
Edited on Thu Jul-16-09 01:39 PM by DuaneBidoux
Here is the link to the story which is presented in slide show format:

<http://www.cnbc.com/id/31905302>

Summary is below. Number is subscriptions to porn sites per 1000 broadband users. We start with the first states and work downward:

1) Utah, 5.47 per 1000 broadband users
2) Alaska, 5.03
3) Mississippi 4.3
4) Hawaii 3.61
5) Oklahoma 3.21
6) Arkansas 3.12
7) North Dakota 3.05
8) Louisiana 3.01
9) Florida 3.01
10) West Virginia 2.94

One state (Hawaii) is solidly blue, the best you can say about Florida now is that it is purple. The rest? They simply do not get any redder. I kind of actually understand Alaska on those long cold winter nights. This confirms what I have long considered the truth: the more you rant about sexual morality the more you are taking part in the psychological gymnastics known as projection.

13. Lots of US military there.
I would have thought that W.VA would have been higher and that the list would have included Nevada and Montana.

16. Also the Japanese see Hawaii like we see Paris or Niagra Falls, as a place to have sex.

2. Not surprised. If you repress something on the surface, you need an outlet
putting it generally.

Look at the Sanford mess: All Christian family values for PR and hitting it with a mistress behind the scenes.

I chatted with a bartender in NYC; the most obnoxious customers he'd served were the Wall Street suits.

3. Conversely, states that you might expect to be in the Top Ten are not. WTF California???
Jees...I'm doin' my part.

5. I'm from the Deep South and it amazes me that while driving on major
highways from D.C. to Georgia, as I get deeper and deeper, there are always all these billboards with XXX entertainment, sex shop advertisements, etc. That's what happens when you are sexually repressed. You become mean-spirited and hateful. That's what's wrong with the Republican Party and the cowards in the Democratic Party.

6. I think red and blue states consumer porn pretty equally. Repukes are just dumb enough to buy it.

7. This doesn't prove that Red states use more porn
It just proves they're dumb enough to pay for it more often.

Plenty of free porn, people.

9. Seriously, Utah is militant anti-porn.
You can only get soft core straight porn here. Meaning, no penetration and pretty much nothing worse than a typical Skinomax movie.

So if you want the good stuff, you either drive up to Wyoming or buy it online.

14. I'm not surprised about Alaska.
We have the highest per capita rate of sexual assault of all the states, too. Not saying there's a connection necessarily, but it's kind of interesting.

15. It's not surprising, pornography (as they define it) is illegal in Utah...
This make the Internet the primary source.
