We need to find ONE major, objective news source on the web
or the tube. I have friends who ask me what I watch and I tell them I DON'T. My news comes pretty much from TDS and LBN, sadly.

I used to tell them BBC on the web, but they haven't yet reported the planned pullout of British troops, which makes me suspicious of even them.

a positive campaign to bolster an objective source's ratings might work better than a boycott, et al.

Any ideas at all>

I'm stumped, actually.

1. Countdown with Keith Olberman
That's the only mainstream news source I trust. He'll take a swipe at liberals, but he''s the one and only fair journalist out there.

2. just use multiple sources
i like daily kos, economist, bbc, cnn international(back when i watched tv), NOW bill moyers, Salon, American progress, TDS(used to when i watched tv), well regarded books, etc. with the internet, the resources really are infinite as long as you're sure of their worth.

3. I'd personally stick with the BBC myself
to my knowledge, not even al jazeera has reported that yet, and they would be one of the first to jump on a story like that.

5. Look at a couple of these sites
I too have been finding it extremely frustrating to find "objective" info...anything domestic, forget about it. I'm feeling better though about msnbc.com -- unlike the tv version, lately it has been more "objective."
However, good sites on the Middle East stuff are http://english.aljazeera.net/HomePage; www.metimes.com; and www.cairotimes.com. The Middle East Times and The Cairo Times are run by, primarily, American and European expats along with Egyptian intellectuals.
Usually before Bush and his cronies try to scare the US into another alert, the always scary www.debka.com has published it first (can give you a couple of days lead time to debunk Bushies).

6. Try this
http://www.newslab.com/
Saw a reporter from this org. last night. Supposed to be non-partisan.

7. For breaking news ABC radio can't be beat.
The real problem with the cable TV stupedia is that breaking news(the hook) and opinion are blurred. The smack down/food fight/ pro-wrestling/ shout fests may be entertaining for some but hardly make any sense.

The net is such a great source of information. That's what I use.
