So he can run as Hillary's VP in 2008 ? This is a theory gaining ground - and could explain why SO many of his supporters are working SO hard to insure that the front runner and most likely candidate to beat bush* loses.

2. This is yesterdays memo
"Anyone who doesn't support Dean is a GOP mole" was over many weeks ago.

9. Don't mischaracterize the argument
It's not that Clark supports the GOP, it's a political calculation to throw 2004, since the DNC/DLC views it unwinnable, and create a Hillary/Clark ticket in 2008.

11. Damn - Where do I track these latest rumors ?
My sources seem to be stale !

Please don't recommend Drudge, Pigboy, Savage etc. Unlike some here, I will not visit their sites or listen to them.

12. The DLC/DNC
are in Clark's corner (whatever you think of the theory). That's why he's near the top despite offering no new ideas or having any real charisma.

6. YES!!
What is powering Clark? Does anyone wonder why some relatively unknown general with no political experience has vaulted near the top of a field with some very impressive candidates? It's not issues, it's not some unusual charisma, it's not campaign tactics- nothing new in those departments. It's the Clark Arkansas connection. Dean shouldn't have bashed McAulliffe, but that along with Mc's Clinton connection put the DNC in Clark's corner. The DLC has always backed Clark and opposed Dean. I don't think the powers-that-be think Bush can be beaten in 2004- and they want more than anything, Hillary in 2008. A Dean victory in 2004 would remove that possibility. Clark is a stalking horse candidate in the primary and a sacrificial lamb in the general.

14. I am powering Clark....
Yes, lil' me.....yes, I wrote him a letter on June 15th...asking him to run.

These conspiracy theories are what the RW gave us via drudge just so he wouldn't get the nomination. The Repugs know that Dems can sometimes slit our own throat in the name of idealism.

It ain't gonna work this time. RW didn't count on how much we hated Bush.

8. I think it's the other way 'round!
Clark came out of the woodwork. If you looked closely at the woodwork he came out of, with a bit of investigation, it looks a lot like Clinton woodwork.

Convenient if Clark gets the nod and appeals to Hillary to give up her senate seat to be VP.

Lovely ticket. I would vote for it in a heartbeat.

17. Ensure the most likely candidate to beat Bush loses?
You must be mistaken. I can assure you, Clark's doing his best to win the nomination.

Everything was sunshine and lollipops when Dean was the clear frontrunner, but there's tinfoil hats and conspiracies abound now that Clark's started catching up. First there's a media conspiracy to give Clark the nomination, now Clark is trying to win the nomination and LOSE so he can be VP later?

Does anyone here actually think that people are giving their time and money to Clark so he can beat Dean, just to LOSE, so we can do this all over again in 4 years? I hope not.

Why do they get propagated here on DU? Shouldn't the rightwingers be worrying about this wacko nonsense?
