. . .maybe the guy with the gun, who police nor secret service removed, had something to do with it.

I bet the determination was to let Kostric keep his gun and they would protect the president by sending him the back entrance. It would have been absolutely irresponsible for the presidential motorcade to knowingly drive past a guy with a gun and the secret service most likely figured it would be bad PR to arrest the chump.

The crowd started chanting "Back door coward!"

3. bush didn't face crowds that weren't carefully screened, or under orders from COs
And I heard people today did not have to sign "loyalty oaths" like many folks attending 'town halls' under bush.

4. I would call people who show up armed at a discussion the cowards.
They need to physically threaten people because they don't have the power of the logical argument. The pen is mightier than the sword... and when you can't metaphorically read the writing on the wall, there is no use for a pen... unbelievable. I can't believe these people are going batshit insane over receiving affordable health care. I cringe when I think about immigration reform.

5. It's like an inability to think logically.... Obama's arrival has nothing to do with Obama.
It has everything to do with the Secret Service. I remember when people would complain about the herding of protesters at Presidential events. Free Speech zones. It's actually a safety tactic on the part of the Secret Service. Keep the angry people away from their target. Nothing more. Nothing less.

6. I wouldn't blame NH- There were a fair share of people from away
there. Plus, I'd love to see a tally done on how many people were native, and how many are recent transplants.

I for one, am glad that The Secret Service and the President exercised good judgment. And grateful that Pres. O came here at all.

The crowd shouting that shit, doesn't represent me- or the people I hold close.

Edited on Tue Aug-11-09 09:15 PM by Hansel
What a coward! He just didn't want to face those 20,000 adoring fans.

G*d these people are self-absorbed. If they would have driven through them and they had to spend $100,000 more on security for it, they would be bitching about his arrogance in thinking he's a rock star or celebrity.

Best line today was when Specter hushed up some RW screaming about his right to freedom of speech because a person from the left was talking longer than he thought he should have been (meaning he said anything at all). Specter told him to quiet down. That his freedom of speech ends where this fellow's begins.

These people are really self-absorbed and childish.

13. I think all of us here get that the Secret Service knows what they are doing.
The President is kept safe and that is what matters, it should not matter what party the President is from.
