The Democrats created Medicare for the elderly, and now they want to kill them off
Has anybody mentioned the inherent dichotomy of this?

Democrats fought and pushed and rammed through past Republican opposition Medicare, a government-run insurance program for the elderly to pay for all of their medical needs until they die.

And this same party, the party of social programs and helping people, is eager to start turning the elderly into mulch?

I haven't seen it stated as such by Rachel or Keith. Perhaps they should!

1. I put that in a LTTE the other day
they called to verify and put it in the cue, but it hasn't run yet ... maybe today. I pointed out that it is liberals and Democrats who have always been the ones concerned for our most vulnerable citizens.

2. Good for you!
If Democrats wanted to kill off the elderly, we'd become Republicans.

5. The problem is that that was a while back and people have short memories
Carter and Mondale both repeatedly brought up the fact that Reagan was a leading spokesperson against Medicare. Reagan re-wrote history explaining that he supported an alternate version of the bill.

6. When it is THEIR health care,
they feel entitled. If it's for someone else, it is welfare.

7. They killed that part of the bill. It's a non-issue now.
