Clinton Urges Progressive Push On Health Care, Shoots Down Euthanasia Myth

In a speech rallying progressives to make one last major push to pass health care reform, former President Bill Clinton accused Republicans of propagating a campaign of disinformation reminiscent of the effort to bring down his own attempt at reform.

"Do you want to go through that again?" the 42nd President asked the crowd of bloggers, online activists, and a slew of Democratic lawmakers at the Netroots Nation convention in Pittsburgh. "Of course you don't. I'm telling you no matter how low they drive support for this with misinformation, the minute the president signs a health care reform bill his approval will go up. Secondly, within a year, when all those bad things they say will happen don't happen, and all the good things happen, approval will explode."

"I'm pleading with you," he said, "try to keep this thing in the lane of getting something done. We need to pass a bill."

More than anything else, it was the memories of past failures that should compel current action, Clinton added. Unlike 17 years ago, he explained, the stars are now aligned to get legislation passed, in terms of the temperament of the American public, the genuine need for a systematic overhaul, or simple voting calculus in the United States Senate.

"Right now the Republicans are sitting around rooting for the President to fail," Clinton said. "And one of the reasons people are so hysterical at all these health care town-hall meetings... is they know they have no chance to beat health care this time, unless they can mortify with rigid fears some moderate conservative Democrats. Why do I know? Because they don't have the filibuster this time."

1. The same enemies
Clinton had to rely on public opinion versus the entire MSM GOP pressure on it. It is not recognized enough by the people who find themselves differing with what they are told to think by mass media that the debate itself is poisoned. Besides entrenched baldly visible Senators on the take from health care lobbyists the resistance of the people to pure insanity still leaves way too many options with the Dark Side.

Public Option like the ballot "paper trail" that barely happened becomes a disposable inadequate straw dog the Health Care industry can play. It might even provoke Progressives into becoming the OPPONENTS of trashed legislation.

The insufficiency of Presidential clout in face of this unfaced war against reform and truth in general continues the Clinton legacy of never quite reaching FDR standards of outrage and fireside chat, bully pulpit subversion of corporate media.

Everything major and most minor things in America are universally screwed. The people feel and viscerally, blindly react, and in such cases this too is a herd that be stampeded off a cliff or diverted by the loudest guns. WWI vets were ready to take heads back home. Prescott Bush and other of the usual caste created the American Legion to turn their hatred against Democrats and their support back to war. Anger can be perverted. Mass anger can be a great tool for the empty headed exploitive demagogue. A scarcity of real information under assault by the purest lies met by the scarcity of leadership in denial of what the assault gives undue advantage to the creeps. In any event under such circumstances the result will be a spoiled victory or defeat with zero consequences for any lies or bad behavior in the defense of raw evil.

This is not just civilized democracy in action. Loss of health care reform is another critical battle against loss of everything and still the bastards are unaccountable and unexamined.

4. WJC is not a difficult man and Barack has shown minimal interest in
personal glory A few words form the President on Bill's tough fight to bring health reform to America, and the sixteen years lost since then, would go a long way to towards setting the Big Dog off the leash.
