Prez looks for his "U-Tube" moment in Montana. |
|
Lets hope the crowd is a little less polite than they were in New Hampshire. The white house should let him answer some tougher questions from some more contentious attendees. Obama is pretty good at this, let him off the chain, let him have a teachable moment regarding healthcare.
The problem is there is no bill for him to advocate, nothing is finalized, not much to rally behind. It will be tricky, but he had the skills and the determination to pull it off.

complained when there was no hostility in the audience and implied they were all "plants", they'll probably do the same thing and say that any confrontation with a winger was planned too.

3. Spectors town hall meeting got top billing in the news cycle |
|
why because of the compelling video of him facing off and explaining his views to his detractors. He came off well, because he had that opportunity. The president did not. The crowd in NH, while not plants were pretty polite and un-raucous.

6. I don't disagree with you that |
|
a confrontation will be compelling, and Obama will handle it well. I'm just trying to predict the MSM spin.

No doubt there are going to be some jerks and rude pricks today. It won't be respectful there.

Here's an idea:
He's the President. How about he TELLS US what HE wants to see in the health care reform legislation? Why doesn't HE tell Americans what HE thinks needs to be done to correct this goddam mess we are currently in?
He's OUR LEADER. It's time for him to lead by telling the country and the Democrats what he wants for America.
If he leaves this up to Congress the lobbyists will win in a landslide. And Americans will once again be screwn.

10. We'll see. If he's willing to actually *veto* any watered-down crap that congress passes |
|
then he will be filling the role you describe. If he signs the Crap just so he can say he "passed" something for '10 & '12, then we'll know he puts politics ahead of principle.
He claims he's willing to be a 1-term president if it means getting health care reform passed. Let's see him put his money where his mouth is.

11. My impression is that President Obama is willing to take the minimum "reform" that |
|
Congress decides to offer. But, I hope I'm wrong.
Maybe the world-record volume of assassination threats are taking their toll. I can't imagine what that would feel like.
