Police standoff ends at LA federal building (Obama threat)

A man suspected of making threats against the White House was pulled from his car Thursday after an hours-long standoff in the parking lot of the Federal Building in West Los Angeles.

The man had refused to leave his red Volkswagen Beetle and withstood four rounds of chemical agents tossed inside the car after police broke a rear window. About an hour later, officers shot out the drivers window with a bean bag gun, used a Taser on the man and pulled him out.

Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan identified the suspect as Joseph Moshe, 56, of Los Angeles. Moshe is suspected of calling a police dispatch number Wednesday and making threatening statements about the White House, Donovan said.

Police pulled him from the car after he ignored repeated attempts to negotiate his surrender.

The Federal Building had been locked down since noon, and employees were told to stay inside, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said.

The suspect made an unspecified threat against the White House, according to a law enforcement source.

During the course of the standoff, police did not know if the man was armed, police Lt. Ruben de la Torre said.

Moshe is suspected of calling a police dispatch number Wednesday and making threatening statements about the White House, Donovan said.

Neighbors who did not want to be identified said Moshe "sounds like he could be dangerous," but he has never caused any significant trouble for them.

"He's got issues. He doesn't take his medication, he doesn't do that well," a neighbor said.

Police also evacuated an apartment building across the street as a precaution.

3. Unarmed crazy dude off his meds. Maybe not qualified as a sniper target.

Yet.

But I see what you're saying.

I hope gun-on-thigh dude was in their sights, for example.

edited, sights, not sites.

2. As incidents like this become more and more common, the right wing talkies and the MSM
...will keep blowing them off as, 'isolated incidents,' or a, 'few individuals,' thus letting the right wing hate machine off the hook.
