Possible new and upcoming RW meme
I caught a few (excruciatingly painful) moments of Glenn Beck this morning on my drive to work and he was ranting about some kind of program called the "Apollo Project" (apparently nothing to do with NASA) and I guess he was saying that people from this group are some of the people supposedly involved in writing legislation coming from the Obama administration and that it supposedly includes communists and even apparently a (former) member of the Weather Underground(!)- although not identified as Bill Ayers. I was listening to an unknown conservative call in show later on and there were other people talking about *shady* forces drafting all of the legislation coming out of the administration. Anybody else brave enough to listen to even a few minutes of hate radio hearing anything similar on other shows today or recently?

7. Yeah, I know
Beck obviously hasn't gotten clued into that yet but then again, Beck wouldn't be Beck if he was actually interested in being accurate and truthful about, well, anything.
What I find most humorous about him and other right-wingers accusing Obama of having "radical" friends and promoting "radical" policies is that there is almost little or nothing extremely radical about any of his policies. They're more progressive and tilted more towards the people but to listen to how Beck and other wingnuts tell it, an uninformed person would come to believe that Obama is really trying to cram Single Payer down everybody's throats and wants to do away with private enterprise completely when any reasonably intelligent and informed person (and those of us here at DU) could only dream of him doing any of that.
They also seem to think that he has this secret *cabal* of radical luminaries working with him behind the scenes to completely re-engineer this entire country. Oh, but if it were only true!

5. Probably talking about this
An effort to jumpstart clean energy industry

http://yesmagazine.org/issues/government-of-the-people-shall-not-perish/636

The Apollo Project, named after President Kennedy's famous challenge to put a man on the moon, will increase the diversity of our energy resources, using the best available technology to reduce environ-mental impacts and create good jobs and reliable and affordable energy. America is neglecting the industries of the future while other nations invest. Wind is the fastest growing energy source, but European producers dominate turbine production. Fuel cells are poised to revolutionize energy technology, but most come from non-union plants in Canada. In 2000, the Japanese government spent $500 million on photovoltaic cells, seven times U.S. investment.

13. It's called the Apollo Alliance
Beck has been pushing this one for a few weeks now. At least from what I can tell, it popped up on another message board I frequent, from the usual group of right-wing Beck watchers there.

They're trying to make something out of the appointment of Van Jones as the Green Jobs czar, and this is how they're going about it by using his link to the Apollo Alliance.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_Alliance

Van Jones was also arrested (not convicted) while serving as a legal monitor during a protest after the Rodney King riots. So of course they're playing that up and calling him a criminal, which is a lie.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_Jones

They're also trying to connect him to this group: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standing_Together_to_Organize_a_Revolutionary_Movement

If you read the wiki, you'll see someone added that in his bio, along with calling him a marxist, yet there isn't a citation for their info. Gee, I wonder why?

Funny, I don't ever remember them getting upset by the groups and corporations their side was connected to.

16. I know!
I don't know how we lose at this game so often to them. To me their connections are obvious and criminal, the ones on our side tenuous and the organizations are really not that radical. I mean, even my mom volunteered for ACORN in the 70s, good thing I didn't go into politics.

The only thing I come back to every time is the right-wing think tanks have propaganda perfected, and the media is complicit.

6. No, no............
Obama is a puppet president controlled by the Bilderberg Group. I know it must be true, because I saw a DVD documenting it!

Some guy gave my daughter a DVD about the Bilderberg Group and of course, Alex Jones was one of the commentators. They skillfully combine some known facts with a lot of conjecture. I couldn't watch the whole thing. I'm getting tired of conspiracy theories.

11. Oh no
I didn't think that more a minute! I'm just warning people that they be exposed to the Bilderberg conspiracy as well. Do you suppose they will eventually run out of outrageous accusations? I figure once it gets to "Obama is from another galaxy", that will be the peak, but who knows. Their imaginations seem to know no limits.

Who knew that an organization dedicated to voter registration and issues and concerns affecting poor and low-income individuals could be such a hotbed of such unquenchable *malevolence* against the Constitution and the citizens of this country?

18. Add George Soros to the mix.
Apparently, the RWers believe George Soros is behind everything as well.

A quick check of the DU archives (I went through 12 pages), shows George Soros coming up twice in 2009.

It amazes me that they can keep making ACORN and Soros relevant to their inane discussions.

21. Oh, right
I forgot about Soros and his funding of every whacko "leftist" cause. I'd say that, even if his *massive* support of the Democratic Party and/or "leftist" causes was true, it's really only fair IMHO that we have SOMEBODY bankrolling US when the right has individuals like Richard Mellon Scaife, Rupert Murdoch, and god-knows-who-else bankrolling all of THEIR hyper-partisan "activism" not to mention the fact that the corporate print and TV media is practically an arm of the RNC and/or the corporations that actively support them.
