9. Its about time!
Edited on Fri Aug-14-09 04:48 PM by BlueIdaho
These two faced republican politicians want it both ways - they want to pander to the senior citizens, clucking on and on about how they will protect their socialized medical coverage to their dying breath and then spin on a dime, red faced, veins throbbing, spittle flecked - damning a public option as communism, of fascism, or both at the same time.

What a fat fucking sanctimonious turd.

edit = typo

24. It was fair to call Culberson a liar, but not the best interviewing technique.
Calling someone that turns a debate into a brawl. You can make the point by saying someone's being extremely disingenuous. Part of the value of Hardball is Matthews' ability to get major Republicans to appear, and work them over hard, but with friendliness and good humor. Although I like O'Donnell's more leftish politics better, he's cold and humorless and not the best choice to host a political variety show where you want to be able to attract politicians on the other side.

25. You know, for 8 years I BEGGED someone to call Pukes liars and it never happened.
I applaud O'Donnell for calling a spade a spade instead of using 'softer' words.

31. O'Donnell's great & I support calling Republicans liars.
He's a sharp commentator and the more he appears on MSNBC the better. I just don't think he's the ideal host for a political variety / debate / interview show that hopes to attract GOP politicians.

28. And Just Why Do Liberals Always Have To Take The High Road?

Why are we always supposed to pull our punches and let the other side dump all over us? Culberson is a sub-human little piece of shit, a brainless politico whose highest aim is to be the next Tom Delay. He is not the sort of public figure to be attracted, he rightfully should be humiliated and dismissed out of hand. O'Donnell's treatment of him was just right......

29. I'm not saying we always have to take the high road.
And I'm not saying we shouldn't call Culberson and other liars. All I am saying is that if you're going to call Republicans "liars" to their face, rather than make the same point by saying "extremely disingenuous," "not on the level," etc., then you're not going to be able to have a good political variety/debate show, because not many people on the other side will appear, certainly not major politicians. I love Keith Olbermann for instance, but there's a reason scarcely any Republicans go on his show. Or even on Rachel Maddow's. There's a place for Tweety, too.

8. Amazing smackdown.
I'm still laughing. That repuke was shocked that anyone would call out his lies and BS, and was left to simply sputter about MSNBC's ratings.

If anyone missed it, it's worth tuning in to the repeat of Hardball. O'Donnell is just fearless.

10. O'Donnell has been a refreshing change at MSNBC
ever since he started guest hosting for other shows. I look forward to Hardball when he's sitting in for Matthews.

I'm watching it on TIVO, so haven't gotten to the interview yet.

He couldn't answer the question, and all he had were insults. Nice. If his constituents are as happy with him as they say they are, they deserve him.

19. And he said it several times
Kind of like "I know I am, but what are you?" O'Donnell interrupted his talking points and got him off message and that's the best he could come up with.

Poor baby!

27. Wow!! I loved it when Culbertson said he voted against the medicare prescription drug program
and Lawrence told him "congratulations"....I nearly spit out my drink. O'Donnell needs his own show!!

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see him take David Gregory's spot on MTP...I would watch it every Sunday religiously if he did.

32. O'Donnell didn't let Culberson use the wingnut classic tactic
of distract & attack. O'Donnell wasn't going to be distracted and he ignored Culberson's weak attack on MSNBC and stayed on target. Good job!
